*** Official Iowa vs IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

part of the problem is our offensive design does nothing to put pressure on the defense and requires the QB to be completely precise...something that you can't expect out of a kid starting his second game ever. If you asked Phil Parker the exact offense he'd like to face he would show you ISU tape - it's like we're designed for iowa to stop us

We are pretty much the same as last season but not quite as good on D and much worse on O…

Sadly that is the case. Dekkers was by far our best QB option this season... and it turns out it wasn't probably that close. Kohl is nowhere near ready yet either.

Dekkers had too many turnovers, but he could at least sling it like nobody's business. I think our coaches don't trust Becht to throw it more than 10 yds.

This is actually an improvement on special teams vs typical comparison in Iowa game. At least we are getting good yards on our punts and their punts aren’t all 60+ yarders.

Iowa’s offense has improved from usual F to a C.

The pick 6 is just an automatic thing, I assume it would happen every time if we played 100 times in a row.

Thats the thing. Hes not going to be fired this year, but if 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024 are all disappointing, anywhere else he'd be gone
Yeah, but Iowa State isn't an easy place to win at. Winning the Fiesta bowl bought him a lot of good will. This game sucks, but there is still a lot of season left. Iowa is the best defense we'll see this year.

God I hope we are not much worse on offense. It wasn't good at all last year.

We’re going to be substantially worse imo. Say what you want about Dekkers but he’s better than anything we have right now and would have had a year in the trenches under his belt, lost X, recipe for suckitude.

QB isn’t the problem. The stupid offense and play calling allows no one to get open. It’s such an easy offense to defend, it’s embarrassing.
