Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Didn't Johnny Orr once say nothing good happens after midnight? I'm pretty sure he was talking about realignment/viewership discussions in 2023....
It all makes me want to rent a basketball floor at a nearby high school, cover all of the windows, collect 500 black cats, and take all of the members of the numbers/statistics war and see who can collect the most cats in two hours with the lights off. The one with the most cats can be declared the winner, and be given a box of Band-Aids as a prize.

That's because the data isn't tracked for ESPN+, ACCN or Pac12N. Networks have to pay entities like Nielsen to track viewership/ratings. If you can find a source that provides viewership for those 3 networks, I would welcome the information.

But to repeatedly link a source that uses zero viewers for games not reported is promoting lazy analysis or performed by someone with a 3rd grade education. It also benefits elite schools because they might only have a couple games a year that aren't tracked vs. VT having 9 games not tracked.
I resemble that remark.

I KNOW. LONG. But, heck it was fun to write...
From the hindsight seat, this is how I saw things played out:
Texas: Sweet deal we have with LHN. Largest $$$ of any school
ESPN: Not so fast. We screwed up giving you that deal cause it's not panning out for us. Expect a dramatic cut in LHN revenue next round. BUT, we have a better idea. We'll foot you, not quite as much, but more than this conference if you move over to SEC, but only if you get OK to come with you. That way we can dissolve the B12 conference, make SEC even more profitable, and get other B12 brands to the SEC for a song after they disband.
Texas: How much we talking about?
ESPN: You had your chance with LHN, but because you sucked during this time, we couldn't get the revenue we expected from it. So, we hold all the cards here now. Don't worry. You'll still get a big paycheck. Just not as much as the LHN.
Texas: Crap. Hey Oklahoma, have we got a deal for you.
A&M: WHAT? Psssst. B12. Guess what's brewing?
B12: WHAT? Hey Houston, UCF, Cinci, and BYU. Have we got a deal for you.
ESPN: For crying out loud. This whole thing is backfiring. But, we still hold the cards. Well played B12. Plan B. Let's try the same thing with the P12.
ESPN: Hey Fox, let's face it. Our budgets were blown on the B1G/SEC contracts. But, here's our plan which works out for both of us.
P12: C'mon guys. We're worth more than that.
ESPN: Hey B12, we gave you that sweet deal for other P5 teams for a reason. Now use it.
Fox: We want to help you B12, but we're too busy onboarding the bigger P12 brands to our B1G plan.
B12: Hey CO, you've been bleeding $$$$ since the P12. You just extended yourself for Prime. You NEED the money. And, you're a crucial piece in ESPNs master plan.
CO: Not a bad idea. Ok!
B12: Hey AZ. CO is going to move, so best for you to get discussions going now so you, too, can have full share.
AZ: We are SOOO on board for this cause we likey your basketball league
B12: Hey UT and ASU. You're so screwed. But, hey, we're nice guys. We've ponied up from the other members to bring you in on equal shares.
UT and ASU: Grrrrrrrr. But hell. We have no choice.
Oklahoma: 11:00am kickoffs? WAHAAAAAAAAA!
Texas: Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and Florida in the same season? WAHAAAAAAAA!
B12: Ohhhh BOYS. Basketball is being broken out now. $$$ gap shrinking. Our parity is selling more. Networks likey likey.
Very nice satire!! :D

I especially like the two "WAHAAAAAAAA's!" from OuT!

A little reminiscing to add some unrelated levity to our heavy realignment thinking:

It was the fall of 1969, Johnny Majors was coach and my pals and I would climb into the south end zone raised stands at old Clyde Williams Field. The first seating level of the south stands was level with the goal post cross bar, and maybe only 20 yards away from it. We would sit (pretty much alone) half way up between the uprights. We couldn't see gains, but had great view of spacing and holes for running.

The team was bad, so our only excitement was cheering for our tall and strong black quarter back. He had a tremendous passing arm. No accuracy, but great distance. As soon as he started to back out to pass everyone in the stadium would cheer: GO OBERT GO!

His passes were the highlight of the otherwise poor games. When he threw, the ball would fly the length of the field. GO OBERT GO.

We only won 3 games that year.

The quarterback was Obert Tisdale. He graduated and went on to get a Masters Degree at Iowa, and became facilities operations manager at several agencies, ending up as Director of Business Operations at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. GO OBERT GO!

Does anyone else remember Obert?

I was there. If I remember correctly, Obert was running for his life on most plays due to our inability to block the oncoming rush of defensive linemen.

Another delay…

I do find it disappointing if ESPN is okay with the ACC exercising their pro-rata clause, particularly if it guarantees survival of the ACC is someone FSU and Clemson leave but we supposedly were told not to exercise ours (if that was indeed the case).

I thought ESPN honored it's pro-rata for the Corner 4 adds, but FOX did not kick in for all 4.

I could be wrong.

To be fair the ACC can have Stanford and Cal in my opinion

It’s a short term move that they’ll regret in the long term. Looking forward to the BIg12 upgrading with better ACC remnants when **** hits the fan.

If true and UNC is against expansion gotta assume FSU/Clemson/NCSt still are too. The expansion watch won’t be concluding tomorrow.
