New Uniforms Revealed

I can see why the nation believes we have an identity crisis. Our mascot is a cardinal yet our name is the Cyclones. And, we paint tornados on our helmet which technically is not a cyclone.
Lol, unfortunately I've never seen an attempt at putting an actual photo of a Cyclone on a helmet. Not sure how that would work?

Sparky is so much better:

Where else can you have this much fun with a field logo for a Thanksgiving game?

I agree. Then again, I also liked our bird in a blender logo from the mid 90s-mid 00s better than the current block I-State.
I know what logo we need to bring back.

Also on a side note, a cyclone is 100% a tornado. Cyclones were just the upper midwest term for a tornado in the late 1800s and early 1900s. Also tornadoes are produced from cyclonic systems.
The "Cyclones" name dates back to 1895. That year, Iowa suffered an unusually high number of devastating cyclones (as tornadoes were called at the time). In September, Iowa Agricultural College's football team traveled to Northwestern University and defeated that team by a score of 36–0. The next day, the Chicago Tribune's headline read "Struck by a Cyclone: It Comes from Iowa and Devastates Evanston Town."[106] The article began, "Northwestern might as well have tried to play football with an Iowa cyclone as with the Iowa team it met yesterday." The nickname stuck.

I don't love the I-State logo, but I think our cardinal helmets with the cardinal facemask look sharp. The I-State logo on a white helmet looks cheap to my eye, whereas the cardinal on cardinal look masks that laptop sticker effect.
