Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

Big Ten only adds members if it, at minimum, keeps the per school payout the same. I haven't heard that adding Oregon and Washington would do that. And who in their right mind thinks adding Cal and Stanford would.

Right now the Big Ten is projected to distribute $80M per year at the low end. I don't see adding those four as a minimum break even.
Could be a long term play. Pay them partial at first, and eventually the revenue will make sense later on. Plus, don't underestimate the effect of potentially knocking a conference completely out of the playoffs.

It's interesting to see the Big 12 bashing start up again.

There are so many media members and fans that are bitter that the Big 12 is going on the offense, getting positive press, appearing unified....and god forbid, that Big 12 fans are celebrating and displaying pride. We should know our place.

We're happy to be alive. That's pretty much all we've said throughout this thing.

When most of the sports media is Northwestern alumns in a good ole boys club. This is what you get when in reality Northwestern would be in the same position as us if we all just hit reset

I’ll say it again like I did 20,000 posts ago. I don’t see the big ten/fox letting Oregon and Washington get into the big 12. It will definitely make the big 12 stronger. Media outlets want to grow the big 12 but with the leftovers. Oregon/Washington will be with big ten soon or be down the road with them staying with pac now. With playoffs expanding Oregon and Washington have chance of making it year in year out.
But rationally, would they really add that much to the B1G? They would be mid-level teams most years and bringing them in may make it more difficult to add other schools down the road. Can all the top teams be managed in two gigantic conferences? Could it be better to have the ACC and Big XII as viable conferences to grow the pool of college football fans?

I've noticed some ACC homers getting in on the action too. They are feeling the heat of getting picked apart instead of being one of the last 3 standing. If it makes them feel better to tell Big 12 fans that their conference is irrelevant, that's fine. Like I said, we're just happy to still be alive. We were told we were a bunch of hayseed morons for ever thinking the remaining 8 Big 12 teams weren't headed to the Mountain West.

b10 done a good job of adding bad teams to beat up. Rutgers, Nebraska. Why not cal, stanford

This nonsense again.

The big 10 100% does not care about 'striking the final blow to the PAC'

They mortally wounded the PAC 12 so they were only worth $20 million in a streaming deal. Absolutely a mortal blow.

Big 12 will add 4 Corners. Arizona first. ASU and Utah will be on the clock. They will come. Nowhere else to go. Washington and Oregon to B1G partial shares. Old PAC 12 CFP spot is now an At Large. Big 12 with the best basketball league in the Country and will be very desirable as a good fun competitive football league. Going into the next negotiation for media we have eliminated a competitor.

At least OU/UW will get their answer if an invite is coming making their and the Big12 choice of who to add (after Arizona).

All this big 10 not wanting to strike a final blow talking point crap is in example of how media today manipulates the masses.

Usually the person who writes it is in bed with an important figure or institution that doesn’t wan’t to look bad (in this case the big 10) and in turn, this distracts or try’s to make someone else look bad ( in this case the big 12).

You start flooding the airways with this **** and people start to forget how we got here in the first place.

For every person that is able to decipher this and read between the lines…. there’s usually a larger percentage of people that can’t and then you get people charged up and distracted arguing amongst themselves. Rinse repeat it’s a tale as old as time, and I hate it.

That's if we can get the media partners to pay up for 16 and not the 14 cap as rumored

Yeah they're trying to frame it as they are saving these schools (but also not giving them an equal share but don't worry about that).

Does athletic alliance really have any significant impact on the academic alliance? That makes no sense.
Absolutely. The presidents aren't running athletic departments, they're running universities which use those research dollars to attract top academic talent, fund studies, etc. The only way to get into the Big Ten Academic Alliance and have access to the giant pools of research dollars available is to get into the Big Ten.
