From a fan side and an athletic department its a no-brainer. It'd be like if ISU was invited to the B1G a couple years ago, but Winterstein drug her feet because she felt loyalty to the other Big 8 schools. We'd be pissed.

I posted it in the other thread, but BY has a vision for the conference to grow its brand and revenue to keep it relevant in football and make it the premier for basketball. Just having that vision, and creating a plan on how to get there puts him miles ahead of most other commissioners.

Stanford may not care if they are in PAC or independent, but if they had a choice they would pick PAC. So Robbins might as well try to keep AZ in PAC so Stanford doesn't have to deal with realignment once he becomes the president.

To put it in perspective, for 2022 Arizona’s operating revenue for athletics was 124.4 million with support from the school (direct payment and student fees) at 31.1 million. Expenses? 124.9 million. There are some other internal loans the athletic dept owes the school which are kinda shady. AZ athletics could use a little more cash.
