But don’t you think if four teams leave the PAC just absorbs the MWC and the exit fees go away? Although that 4 teams leaving scenario would highly likely include Oregon anyway.

Why would the MWC agree to be absorbed by the PAC when the media deal that the MWC has for the future is better than what the PAC currently has (nothing)? Like I said - you're asking smaller schools to take gigantic risks giving up certainties for complete unknowns. And if the one reward is the PAC's guaranteed playoff spot... how long do you think they're going to hold onto that one in the future? The PAC isn't a power conference anymore.

Solely because they could force a **** load of people into paying for their conference network.

If the Big 12 had a network (like Weiberg tried to do 16+ years ago), then yes, adding schools only because they're in large TV markets would be a good idea.

I've got to think BY is moving in that direction with the LHN moving out, I could see ESPN replacing it with the Big 12 network

The AZ President already publicly stated there is no issue with UA and ASU doing different things.

Here is a quote from Robbins, “(Arizona and ASU) don’t have to do the same thing,” Robbins told reporters. “But (ASU president Michael Crow) and I are very, very tight. I think it’d be unlikely that we’d be split up."

So far the biggest losers in realignment I can remember...

Idaho and New Mexico State - lost FBS football entirely
USF - briefly in BCS conference, now in group of five
Uconn - briefly in BCS conference, now group of five, chance of coming back. Winning basketball national championships constantly means they probably didn't actually feel any bad effect

Feeling it right now:
Wash St and Ore St - almost certain to dislike new fate
Cal/Stanford - do they even care?

Next round of jeopardy:
Wake Forest and BC - very likely
NC State, Syracuse, Louisville - will a game of musical chairs be unkind to one of them?

I don’t know if they go to 20. The conferences seem really happy at 16. Clemson seems like the obv pick, not sure about FSU.

NCST and VaTech are barely relevant in their own states they add nothing to the media deals of the SEC/Bigten. They don’t just expand to expand

I think you might be surprised if you look at NCSt's football attendance. VT too. In fact VT is probably more popular in Virginia than UVA. Both VT and NCSt have consistently good football attendance. They are both top-75 in academics. NC State probably wouldn't get an invite to either the BIG or SEC but VT probably could get one.

You’re correct that I’m assuming the remaining 6 from the PAC combined with 10 MWC teams would outdo the current $7M/ team (I think)per the MWC media deal. I’m not sure whether that’s a good assumption or not.

That ship has sailed. There's no way ESPN is adding a linear network in today's climate.

That's what I want to happen anyway! But I think it does make sense.

I'm not sure that BY really even wants UConn (it would only be to please ESPN)... he's just using them to put pressure on AZ to commit.

I don't see the logic behind taking UConn right now. Assuming the real stop point is 16 and the B12 has 3 spots and 6 prospects, I think they're probably no better than the 4th best option.

They're currently granted an AQ spot in the CFP - what would it take for them to lose that? dropping below a certain number of teams?

Right on time, chart boy with a chart: No more losses or 1 more loss is the Pac Surviving... at least another 3-5 years. Significant loss or nuclear option to me is Pac extinction. Most likely to me is the reverse of how he has it.

BY wants to take Basketball to market separately. Is adding UCONN a way to kneecap the Big East from doing the same thing? Is there a future when a broken ACC has teams like Syracuse and Duke join the Big East? That’s a damn good basketball conference.
