Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

ACC is in trouble. If SEC expands its likely Clemson and FSU. If BIG expands likely UNC and Virginia.
From what I understand, UNC to the Big 10 isn't a sure thing. Evidently, UNC does take significant pride in being a Southern school and may choose to join the SEC because of it.

Depends on what the cable/streaming landscape looks like in 2030 and how desperate networks are to keep eyeballs.

Gen Z does not watch sports and the middle and older millennials should be at their highest point in terms of earnings at that point. There may be one squeeze left of the orange before advertisers start bailing fully to new media.

This is still such a big part of the equation. Eyeballs will only continue to shift towards streaming platforms and individual subscriptions.

Right now, Arizona is on the hot seat. Yormark gave CU a deadline. I'm sure he's given something similar to Arizona.
I'm sure the B12 has been working the phones and behind the scenes letting PAC schools know, we're talking to 3-5 PAC schools along with UConn and our media partners have green lit expanding to 14/16/18.

IMO Oregon would be wise to go to Big 12. Be the big fish while getting money. There are 3 spots in the Big 12. That is it. 6 year GOR should not be a problem. B1G will not invite them in the next 6 years as they wait for ACC teams and ND. Washington needs to be leery of staying in PAC 12 and lowering their stature. Big 12 might be the best offer they can get.

Empathy, my man. We are Oregon State and Washington State. We’re just fortunate enough to be in the Midwest instead of the west coast.

The money grab and realignment stuff is complete ********. This isn’t what college athletics are supposed to be. I’m glad we came out on top but I’m not gonna **** on the decent schools that have been relegated to a lesser tier.

Appreciating an opponent after win is alright. Especially when they were drug into it by the bigger guys. A couple bounces in the other direction and we’d be looking forward to some MACtion.
Also, why do a lot of people bring these two schools as comparables. They are land grant schools in small towns?

Enrollment, foundation balances, number of ceo's of public companies, attendance at events, etc. display differences. We are not like them, especially from the linear TV analysis standards.

Panic!!! And of course no self-realization as they reflect on the missteps from the conference that they amplified as positives over the past years.

“The messaging was all wrong” as you pump that out to the masses and tell them it’s great messaging. Clowns.

heard some chatter about this...

if the big 12 adds oregon and washington, are they a better football conference than the Big 10? i am not saying they will command more dollars but that is a significant brand boost to the top half of the league.

Top to bottom maybe, but tOSU and UM are on a different planet and that makes the Big 10 the better conference.

I saw many fans from all schools feel bad. But even if not, we can be bigger "men". This mentality reminds me of mafia or gangs getting revenge. It never ends. Personally I want to live in an empathetic world, not one full of anger and revenge.

I remember thinking of the decimation of my alma mater and how it would affect so many in that town and surrounding communities. The greed of athletics is ruining the lives of so many.
Great philosophical statements. Too bad it is not reality. Again, there was not a member of that pac12, including osu and wsu, that thought about us for three seconds. This has nothing to with revenge or grudges.

That MWC buyout # really puts them in a bind. Whenever I say "new Pac" and "new MWC" I'm just thinking of the best 10-12 team realistic pac and then MWC promoting up NDSU/Mont/MontSt.

They really screwed it not getting at least SDSU in by that deadline. Not sure what SMU's situation is...although at this point is SMU thinking they're better off sticking with the remnants of AAC and keeping their travel down?

Just look at the schools we’re talking about adding and listen to the podcast from Wilner and Canzano. They are high on Rice right now.

Why would you want to join the PAC12 right now? At best you are joining a dying conference that still has 0 media deal or proposal for one. These schools might want to be in whatever conference emerges from the left overs but right now why tie yourself to a sinking ship? I don't believe this at all
My guess is the 2026 and beyond $20M annual payout for CFP payout to P5 conference schools is the lure. G5 schools might make a quarter of that and that's if Power Conferences continue to be generous.

Also a streamer may pay more for Pac12 remnants and a few MWC/AAC schools than the current MWC/AAC rights fees.
