Realignment Megathread (All The Moves)

I think Matt Rhule might be the make or break hire for Nebraska. He’s the 6th coach since Osborne and the last two have been terrible. If he doesn’t turn it around then we may see the Huskers’ attendance finally break. Especially when they finally capitulate on the phony sellout streak.

I also think removing divisions will water down Iowa, Nebraska and Wisconsin. The easy path to the CCG will be gone. It would be like MLB removing divisions and going back to a pennant race.
They are following the path of Minnesota in the 60s and 70s. If they aren't carefully they will be irrelevant by like the Gophers were in the 80s and 90s with a random good season every 5 to 10 years since the early 2000s.

I get what you're saying, but the fact that college sports aren't a priority is the point. It isn't a point in their favor that they have other things to do.
Yep I’m not disagreeing with your point but I’ve also always advocated that in game attendance isn’t a perfect indicator of engagement or ratings especially with how much better the TV coverage/quality is. I have never “lived” in CA but I did a rotation in the Bay Area and the amount of stuff to do while still watching the game is just staggering. Especially in the streaming age.

UConn won more football games than we did last season with a new coach, Jim Mora Jr. It's not a guarantee that they would be an auto win for us.
Yep those wins against central conn state, Liberty, FIU, Umass, BC, and Fresno we’re super impressive lol

They lost by a combined 124 points to NC State, Syracuse, and Michigan

It’s an auto win every time or you’re in a horrific down year

When I lived in California (Bay Area), I looked at the weather being a positive factor for going to Cal or Stanford games. I was like, it sure is nice getting to go to a football game AND enjoying nice weather at the same time. Of course, this was on the heels of 6 years of dealing with Cyclone Football Weather!
Yeah, but what about the beach and/or mountains! Everyone knows if those are nearby there are no other viable forms of entertainment!

I had a lot of 2-3 week training sessions in Burbank and the number of things you could do within walking distance of the hotel was incredible. Every day, not just weekends.

Yeah, that's good, the way it should be!

But for some reason (I didn't do anything differently, nor do I even post on twitter), I was completely locked out of twitter about 2 weeks ago. I can no longer open or see ANY tweet/links posted here.

I have no idea as to why.
Sometimes browser settings, add blockers, vpns etc mess with access, they also mess with imbedded tweets etc. If you have something that is blocking them from showing up in threads, you just see the twitter link. As far as being completely locked out of twitter, it also could be one of the mentioned issues that are preventing twitter from loading.

Yes. Particularly additive for 2031. Part of the reasoning for adding them now may be to give the football program a 5 or 6 year runway to get up to snuff prior to the next round of tv negotiations.

I'm lukewarm on UConn, but I'd be able to get behind it if that's what leadership think is best. Obviously there's value in the basketball program. Unlike Gonzaga, their success extends beyond one coach, they're a state flagship University with a large student population, and overall growth potential is probably higher than a small private school in Spokane.

I'm sure Yormark is already envisioning promoting a Uconn game or two a year at Madison Square Garden. Adding the Huskies wouldn't be the worst move...
Not that it is that important, but besides being the state "flagship", UConn is also the land grant school. It is similar to Wisconsin or Minnesota (for example) in that respect.

Also, sometimes the "state" designation isn't definitive. For example, Arizona is the land-grant school (not ASU). Same with Florida (not FSU).

It was his first year. Liberty, BC, and Fresno are decent wins given the situation he walked into.

Kinda looking like it is extremely possible that the Mountain West merges with the remnants of the PAC 12.

How many years did it take you to realize what twitter was? I never signed up when I heard what it was. I don't have facebook either, never saw alure of it.
But you can still open twitter links and read them, right? That was what it was for me. I'm like you, I never had a twitter or facebook account.

Two weeks ago, or so now, I'm locked out all of a sudden. I try to go to twitter, to fix it, can't sign in (using my apple ID, as asked by twitter), and most importantly, I can't open any twitter links here. Weird. And twitter doesn't respond to my queries thru Help, in any meaningful way, anyway.

Four to eight days ago (or so) even registered Twitter users (“blue check” paying members, or not) weren’t able to access Twitter at all, or were limited even if they did.

It was unclear at first, and for awhile, but then reported that it was in some kind of lockdown mode — as someone was scraping all of their data, like maybe a foreign government. I think it was instead maybe Facebook (in preparation for the release of their Twitter knockoff, which is active now in connection with Instagram).

This was HIGHLY unusual, that even registered users were locked out like that. Not that that is your issue, but the timing is close.

It comes down to who you play, EIU has made of living of schedules just like this, play one or two halfway decent teams a year, schedule 2 cupcakes during the preseason, always at home, and its surprisingly how many wins a school can get when they do not play the best in the conference every year.
Does anyone think that Houston or Cincinnati is not going to miss a beat and win 8 to 10 games this season? Because if you are, you are going to be in for a shock. Just like TCU and WV before them, its going to take a few years for them to figure it out. I would say the same for UT and OU, it will be interesting to see how their fans bases handle it.

Take it as a sign from God. A blessing from On High

And also that’s a big “if” that they will figure it out

Yeah, I looked in to that, and saw that others were having issues. I thought it might just self resolve. It hasn't yet, for me.

About 6 months ago, I was unable to view twitter links here. It only lasted for about a week, then seemed to fix itself, without me doing anything.

I'm in the same boat. Regardless of web browser, I am asked to log in or create an account to see the tweet. That started a week or so ago.

Do you get the lovely 20 question math game to authenticate?

I wish they would just you're locked out and be done with it. I don't do the math game with them anymore. Can't win.
