pft, all you have is a video of me doing it? Well if you can't bring that video camera into court for me to cross examine then you can't use it!
Ahhh, I'm a habitual speeder. Cameras generally don't work very well. The one downtown Des Moines is useless to be honest. Yeah sure, it gets people to slow down, but just in that vicinity because after people pass it they speed right back up. Yes, it's 100% absolutely a money grab, not a speed deterrent. People are going to speed regardless. I get passed often, so I'm not even in the worst bracket of speeders. I don't think they help; I also don't think stoplight cameras work either. From my understanding, there was an article in the past where it talked about stoplight cameras causing accidents because people were passing through worried and they'd make more abrupt stops and watched the camera more often. The one in Clive didn't last very long.
Nope, completely disagree. The camera in Dsm does not effectively work overall. Yeah, people slow down in that area, but that's it. It does not deter speeders. Sure maybe 1 or 2, but generally if people are going to speed, they are going to speed before and after that camera.
Its obvious you have strong feelings on this subject, and feel its banditry. Can you articulate why it is, or why the outrage on parking tickets isn't there? We debunked the 'face your accuser' nonsense.
Kinda like seatbelt laws, right? If people didn't wear seatbelts in the 80's, they still aren't wearing them today, right? right?
Your logic implies there should be no speed limits anywhere because if people are going to speed, their going to speed no matter what.
This sure sounds like it is a speed deterrent and that we might just need more cameras.

It is banditry because it is revenue generation in the name of safety. Cities have been caught reducing the duration of yellow lights in areas with red light cameras (which clearly makes those areas less safe, but more lucrative). Cities have taken them down when revenue didn't justify them. It's parasitic.
I wouldn't want to live in a country where every trespass against the legal code was automatically charged against me, particularly when the legal code is thousands of pages.
Serious question, if you know the answer please respond. Let's say I drive through Anytown, IA with my cruise set at 40 in 35 mph zone. A cop follows me all the way through town then pulls me over. He says "I had you 5 over at the intersections of 1st St, 2nd St, 3rd St....14th St, 15th St. Here are your 15 citations." Is this legal?

I've gotten several from this PC speed trap. I never pay them, it's a cival matter and they would have to take you to small claims to get the money. That isn't happening. Never pay these things is my advice. Worst they can do is send it to a collections agency but that collection agency's don't affect your credit. Its just a scare tactic.
I used to get them a bunch in Cedar Rapids, same thing, never paid them. Went to buy a car and my credit is fantastic. Again, DON'T PAY!

Back to speed cameras. What is different about and why the loud response to speed cameras over getting pulled over by an officer?
An argument for cameras is that it saves money on labor costs and assets needed for in person policing. Allowing current officers to focus more on “real crime”.

2. I looked at their number 1 example. I didn't even see a speed reduction where they were describing. They just speed a lot of time pulling over speeders in relation to the size of the town.
First question: no, also if you receive multiple speed violations by a camera in a certain period of time, they remove those “duplicate” citations.
Second question. No. But if you’re parked and ticketed, another amount of time passes and they can ticket you. If it’s a two hour limit, every two hours you can earn a ticket.
Third question. Not sure in understand but may be similar answer as the first question.

You think it should be a different penalty for speeding or parking tickets, something other than a monetary penalty? Or is it that you sovereign citizens think there shouldn't be speed limits or parking limits? I personally like it that it's not legal to drive 70mph down my street.
So the automation a camera and it’s supporting tech bring is the issue. The picture is evaluated by an officer. You're only okay with a person enforcing the ticket because that isn’t automatic. Are you for increased staffing of LEOs? As it seems there are lots of speeders out there.
Secondly, it’s clearly posted what the speed limit is, so well posted we can read them at speeds of 70mph. So it’s very clear, and not confusing.
