You definitely want iron on numbers - most Nike teams have iron on numbers with faux stitching around the edge - they are made to look like they are stitched on - they look good like that, but more so they create a bit of depth & contrast between the number & jersey - specially in this situation, white over gray, you want as much depth & contrast between the two

We got the Paul Rhoads (Gene Chizik...) uniforms b/c we wanted to go back to cardinal & gold b/c we had strayed away from OUR colors - now it's as if we want to get as far away from any kind of "gold" at all

Agree with you there. Jack had on a gold (yellow) jersey in the pic. But CMC HATES yellow... and CMC gets what CMC wants evidently.

While the jersey is the new FUSE tailoring template, the fabric is definitely of a lesser quality - the seams look really bad

I'm not sure re: the pants tailoring, but again, the fabric is cheap

Also, the jersey is entirely screen printed

The stripes, of course, would have to be screened on, but the faux-stitched iron-on numbers would have looked higher-quality & also would have created a bit of pop & differentiation from the stripes - from afar & on television, especially two-digit numbers, will wash out - the front of the jersey will just look like a gray & white puddle...

A two-tone number would have helped too - maybe gold with a white outline or something like that (preferably not white with a black outline, b/c of the Ohio State jerseys... )

I know a cheap jersey when I see one - and God knows Iowa State is the KING of cheap quality jerseys (remember when football and basketball literally chose off-the-rack Nike uniforms for both football and basketball from 2003 - 2007 (and up until 2009 for basketball, after 3 especially sad “upgrade” iterations - with the literal exact colors of McDonald’s) - these are quite high quality, with 0 (zero) screenprinting. The seams and embroidering look great and as high quality as any throwbacks in college football. Check your eyes at a doctor if you’re noticing something different.

I was worried all week that the reveal would be a screen-printing pathetic disaster (like the 07 throwbacks we wore against Iowa - seriously what a waste of those sweet jerseys to make them high school quality - helmets and pants were great). Pleasantly surprised today. Love the color combination, including the use of gray, white/black, and the old gold. Helmet with a gray facemask is absolute money.

Yes, the materials are probably better than what teams wore in the 2000s - great point... :rolleyes:

Hate the pants, what a strange color. Doesnt look "old gold" to me, just kinda tan. Silly putty.

Then with white, and gray, and red... idk too many colors for me overall. I dont hate the jersey or the helmet, but combined w the pants, i am not a fan. I think w white pants (or maybe even gray) i would be all in.

But my fashion sense is usually trash so maybe its ok. To each their own.

Agree. So being 100% authentic isn't the goal. As the leather helmets didn't appear to have a logo or white in color. So we have made some compromises to authenticity for look.

If the goal is to blend Trice look with modern cool- all I'm saying is not a fan of the grey.

My guess this is a one-off jersey that will be auctioned off after the game. So I can understand the importance to use grey in the striping.

I would have liked to see bit of gold. But these are nice.
 
Now that the Trice uni 'rabbit' is out of the hat, when do you think we might see an overall uniform redesign? Or, will we keep our current a few years (or more) longer?
