Anyone else struggling to get ADHD medication? I'm going on 3 weeks without it. Last month it was 2 weeks. Pharmacies have no clue when they'll get any in either. They must really want people to get it off the streets.

My son, too many people using it that really don't need it forcing those truly in need to struggle. On line doctors suck.

I got mine refilled 2 weeks ago. I guess I lucked out.
It is sad if people with neurotypical brains are getting it, they do not need it.

This. Idiots using it for rec purposes. We've struggled a bit getting refills for our daughter but haven't had too big a problem yet. She also doesn't take it on weekends since, for her at least, its biggest benefit is keeping her focused during school. That extends the life of a script at least a little.

I only take it M-F before work myself.

Do you call around to see if different pharmacies have it available? Dumb question probably, I'm sure you do. But our Hy-Vee had our daughters' on back order and was waiting for a few weeks and still hadn't gotten any in. Then we called Walgreen's that's literally across the street from Hy-Vee, and they had it, in her dosage. This was 2 weeks ago.

My pharmacy has told me to shop around. The problem is everyone is doing that and I only have time to call people in the evening. I did that once and by the time my Dr. sent it in they were already sold out. Then I had to call the Dr. back and switch to yet another pharmacy. It's exhausting. I wonder if Vyvanse is more available.

You can get the name brand, our insurance is over 250/mo.

Vyvanse is also part of the national shortage but depending on your area it’s possible it could be an option. Couple other things would be to ask your primary (or whoever prescribed) if they have any samples you could try due to the shortage. They might also have some insight as to where you can find it as they are probably getting many calls/emails about it.

Option 2 would be to try methylphenidate. Most people respond better to one vs the other but a lot of patients have success with either it’s just less effective. I know there was a shortage on it too a couple months ago but it could be another option. Just ask your PCP about it.

I am in Colorado, but I ran into this during my March refill. My Walgreens down the street said that they were out and didn’t have a restock date and at every Walgreens in the Denver metro was out and they’d heard every CVS, King Soopers/Kroger, and Safeway in the area were out of stock. I called probably 10 different small locally owned pharmacies and none of them had my dosage - 10 mg generic extended release. I work in a rehab hospital and I finally called one of our in-house pharmacists and asked if they had a top-secret pharmacy that they use to get these meds for our patients and she said that they haven’t had them for weeks and have just been trying to substitute and adjust other meds as much as they can to make it work. I emailed my provider who was out on a medical leave until the end of this month. But my individual weekly counselor told me to call their clinic - it’s a community mental health clinic, also where my prescribing psychiatrist works - in-house pharmacy and see if they had anything in stock. I was able to get a 30 day supply the next day. But I am now again and waiting for a refill. I am also one of those who only takes my med for ADHD on workdays. I take my anxiety and depression meds daily, and now the mail order pharmacy that I use to get a 90 day supply of generic Lexapro is even out of stock. Frustrating as hell.

Anybody having any better luck getting refills for their kiddos? We've had to change our kids' medicine twice just to find something we can get without 3-4 weeks of waiting between refills. Finally found that we can reliably get Vyvance in the Waukee area now. Adderall has been out for months and Ritalin almost the same.

FYI - there is a relatively new thing with genetic testing for various genomes and mutations done by Genesight that has helped us. I went through almost every medicine imaginable for Anxiety, Depression, ADHD, and OCD and am on the 5 things that help just a little. With my kids, the genetic testing showed which genes and mutations relate to each medicine, absorption, etc.

I have been able to get my Adderall refills pretty quick. I get mine at Walgreens.

Glad I'm off the controlled substances. I've been on Strattera (Atomexatine) for a couple years. No issues with supplies for these.
