Iowa State Transfer/Recruiting Class 2023

Definitely one of the negative elements. I'm not sure how many additional wins might have come with even a modest bump in FT%, without digging deeper, but it did have an effect on a few occasions. In some cases, iffy accuracy from the line also came when the opponent shot it well.
I think our worst FT shooting games also were our worst overall shooting games. It definitely translated and shouldn’t have.

King is going to play a lot at the “5”. There will probably be some instances where Omaha is there. Everyone should get ready for small ball.
everyone is excited about small ball, it works a lot of the time, as long at the players can shoot and are athletic enough to get their own shots. But the team that won the NT had a couple of really good bigs. Purdue lost to small ball, that is only because they quit going inside to their big. Yes, the 5 doesn't matter as much as it used to, but it does matter some. IMO we won't beat a lot of the NCAA Tournament type teams consistently without decent 5s.

Went back through some our close losses. Missing 4 or 5 I guess isn't huge so only game it looks like our ft shooting really especially cost us was TTU.

@KU lost by 2 missed 4
@OSU lost 2 missed 5
@TTU lost 3 in OT missed 9 free throws
home WV lost by 3 missed 5

Thanks for checking. Had a pretty strong hunch Tech was one of them. Could've been just enough to stem the complete meltdown.

A article I read on Gilbert mentioned he was ejected from a game and then suspended for head butting an opponent. Could be a random incident or maybe that he could be a loose cannon?

Yeah that's not great.

Overall though, that UNLV team was the most undisciplined and crybaby basketball team I watched all year. Including Iowa.

Dudes were literally having temper tantrums and meltdowns after whistles late. Do not remember if Gilbert was one of them doing so. I was embarrassed watching that and I have no attachment to the program at all. Refs somehow never gave them Ts for that despite doing it often

I am happy with all three prospects as they are all rated in the top 10 for their positions thus far. Pavelezke is the one I want but he just got an ON3 CB to Marquette.
Boo.... but who can blame him for getting to play in his home state.
Time to get Ashworth

None of the three visiting this weekend are alpha lead guards in 2023/24, but I really like the highlights of Williams. Having a 6'6" slasher who can play 2-4 and defend 1-4 would be GREAT! He'll only be a sophomore and shot is well from 3 and the FT line. Plus he's an awesome rebounder

J. Williams
D. Williams
Watson
Omaha
King

That lineup can all guard with anyone in the country. Need scoring, play this 5-out offense

Lipsey
D Williams
Omaha
Milan
King

My biggest takeaways:

1.22 PPP in spot up shooting... 92nd percentile
1.48 PPP cutting.. 88th percentile

I will be happy if this kid comes, but I do not seem him fitting our greatest need. The Kimberly kid Pav / forecast to Marquette/ is the guy I would want most. UNLV kid is not a perfect need fit either - but again would be a solid add.
I too do not like the 1-5 nomenclature anymore but sometimes it seems helpful when talking about players. IMO, we need two 2’s.

Nobody on here knows anything about what the players are making simply because it’s none of our business! I don’t see anyone on here that made public what they make a year!
So the fans are supposed to crowd source these kids' salaries but they don't get to know what they're paid. Got it
