“The PAC-12 is a stronger FB conference than the Big 12 even without USC/UCLA”

These people man. Doesn’t appear many out there are capable of a sober look at the situation.
if you believe a lie long enough it starts to feel like the truth

If the PAC-12 is at an impasse with ESPN right now, the news coming out yesterday of more layoffs isn’t going to help them land a deal. There just isn’t any more money there

Do you think Yormark saw this coming? Tech sector has had a huge number of layoffs over last few quarters. Reasonable to think this played into decision to negotiate extension early?

The longer this draws out, the smarter Yormark looks in comparison. I'm very happy that we decided to go "outside the box" on hiring our new commissioner.
Depends which box they jumped into. Both the big 12 and PAC hired entertainment people. Big 12 chose well, the PAC chose poorly.

Yes. Absolutely.

These issues aren't new. The RSN implosion was obvious. Cord cutting and the consolidation of B1G and SEC properties took water out of the pool.

Yormark killed it. Kliavkoff was juggling his nuts on the Strip and talking big.

I know the angle he's taking, but thats literally not how a single other person is taking that either

The B12 didn't "kill" it. They solidified their existence for another 5 years. KU/OSU gone next if they can figure a way. The rest will be the basis going forward as little sisters of the poor. P12 trying the same. B/P12 will be AAA for the P2 waiting to be called up.

Perhaps but more importantly everyone but PAC saw there was only bandwidth for one more conference.

Waiting was never an option. We were always the better option for a base of 3rd conference, but the PAC helped by lacking self awareness

No one wants KU or OSU so that’s a plus

We'll Wilner is starting to hedge his bet. Reminds me of the meteorologist in Central Iowa who forecasted 1-8 inches of snow for our area not long ago.

Issue is that he's only as good as the information he's being fed. It seems that he thought he'd been given 'inside' information from the PAC, but he's starting to realize they're feeding him crap to try and control the narrative. At some point he's had an oh **** moment when he realized he flushed his credibility down the drain because he trusted the wrong person.

Personally, I think you're giving him too much credit. Just my opinion, but I think he was a willing participant in spreading the PAC propaganda. In the end, though, I guess it doesn't matter.

Lol

We’ve been the call up conference for over a decade.

The only difference going forward is the PAC and ACC are now in same spot, and there’s not really any room for further call-up’s from Big 12.

If Yormark works with networks to close the deal on collapsing the PAC, and eventually the ACC, it won’t matter if 1 or 2 Big 12 schools eventually leave. Get to a third, singular “other” conference that’s strong in basketball and has the only other invite to the club, and it’s a tenable path

Arguably better than the challenge we faced historically on football side, basketball may be a little harder

What's a 'data rights' package even mean?

You know that really long document that you sign for Google and Apple to collect data about your habits and interests and then sell that to make a bazillion dollars? I'd imagine it's similar to that.
