2023 NCAA MBB coaching carousel

It doesn't look like there are going to be any Valley jobs open and I struggle to see him leaving the Midwest so I think he stays one more at least.

Could be 3 next year though. Valpo for sure and a chance that Missouri State and UIC could come open.

I think Darian's at Drake for the long run, fwiw....
He can probably make about as much as an assistant at ISU asks a HC at several mids.

So...not to borrow trouble, but if some mid-major type jobs come up, which they will, do we need to think about Kyle Green being a target for an AD out there?
Will be interesting, I think basketball people know what he brings, but not going to be a hire that excites a fanbase.

Depends on the league. The average in the Valley is between $500-550k and the lowest paid guy is Lottich at Valpo at $275k. He'd get a bump at that level but he wouldn't find anywhere near the money at a level lower than the Valley, A10, MW level.

I think the one we need to worry about losing is Blount.
It is not a bad thing if your assistant coaches get promoted to be a HC somewhere so long as you replace them.

While I don't want to lose someone every year - particularly with the risk that a player they recruited follows them, having ISU be known as a place for the best assistant coaches to get promoted (while keeping TJ) would not be end of the world - keeps TJ fresh and, if done right, can expand recruiting reach (the new assistant has connections that TJ leverages to be his own connections too).

I heard a rumor that Fran could get the Notre Dame job and Devries would go to Iowa.

Rumors GT will likely either go Pitino or a minority coach. With that in mind this smoke makes a lot of sense.

Pitino is a great coach, so I understand the lure for a school like GA Tech that has been lackluster for a generation. But I look at immediate success of guys like TJ, Tang, Gates and hope a young coach gets the nod.

It will be interesting if Fran doesn't make a move. The timing might be good with Connor graduating and younger son still in HS.

A Lute Olson type move, a pre-retirement job to a locale he & Marge can grow old. If he likes east coast a Georgetown or St John's might make sense.

Been a lot of reporting that T.J. is the lowest paid coach in the Big 12. We don't have anything to worry about, do we?
Part of the reason TJ's pay is low compared to his peers is we had to pay Prohm a buyout for cratering the program and had to pay UNLV for TJ. He knew this and his pay will increase.

That's not why Lute left.

The other factor was the uncertainty about the next TV contract.

Now that the TV contract and CFP expansion are in place I will be shocked if Jamie doesn't take care of TJ this off season.
