NCAA Top 16 Reveal

I know every year is different, but it is crazy to think that 20-12 this year could get ISU a 3 or 4 seed when last year 20-12 had them on the 11 line.

To be in Des Moines, we are only behind Baylor right now, but I imagine they'd bump Baylor since the extra distance doesn't really make it any closer for Baylor fans:

Baylor -> Des Moines 722
Baylor -> Columbus 981

ISU -> Des Moines 30
ISU -> Columbus 573

Good ole Seth Greenberg at Halftime during the fade away:
"I'm kind of surprised Iowa State is that high".
Gotta love it!

There is no defense for Seth Greenberg.
He is not a national brand nor one of my preferred announcers either.
Let's Go State!
Between games, I heard him say that ISU was definitely the one team that didn’t belong on the list and also he implied that they wouldn’t go far because the ISU defense consisted of grabbing and holding and that wouldn’t be allowed to occur in the NCAA Tournament.

The whole "games will be officiated differently in the Tournament" argument is absurd. Seth made a similar comment last night about the Big 12 in general, not just ISU. As Fran pointed out, it's the same officials doing both. Referees that regularly officiate Big 12 contests will also officiate Tournament games that include a Big 12 team. Is Doug Sirmons going to call a foul in the Tournament that he would have let go in the regular season? This isn't the first year that the Big 12 has been physical and it hasn't seemed to negatively impact the Tournament performance of Big 12 teams.

Take ISU's Tournament run last year for example. In the first game against LSU, one of the officials was Marques Pettigrew, who had officiated several Big 12 regular season games and three Big 12 Tournament games. He'd had Iowa State three times prior to that game. Chris Rastatter was an official in the Wisconsin game. He officiated a handful of Big 12 games, including Texas Tech at Iowa State. And in the game against Miami, Doug Sirmons was one of the officials. Sirmons is a Big 12 regular (known for his extremely short fuse) and had Iowa State four times during the regular season.

And it wasn't just Iowa State either. All six of KU's games featured at least one ref that had done KU Big 12 games. You'll probably recognize some of the names: Padilla (twice), Kimble (twice), Natili, Wymer, Sirmons, Oglesby, Groover. Every Tournament game played by a Big 12 team had at least one official that had previously seen that team in Big 12 action.

I'd argue that NCAA Tourny games the refs allow more contact and physical play especially in the first 2 rounds.
