Mods, can we just put a ban on sharing mhver tweets already?
He literally just makes **** up. Not sure how people are still falling for it.
The B12 is pretty far down on the "bad guy" list in the PAC saga. After all, they're the only conference that hasn't poached from another power conference, and each round of expansion has only been in response to being poached by the B10, SEC and PAC.B1G kicked the chair out. Big 12 has taken zero PAC 12 teams. And they are failing right now. B1G did them in. Why are you including Big 12? Loss of UCLA and USC has screwed the PAC 12.
I'm with you, I don't hold a grudge. They didn't do anything to cause problems in the conference, which can't be said for really any of the other five that have or will be leaving.I've said this before, but I don't fault Colorado for leaving. At the time, it looked like the conferences outlook was bleak, and they had an opportunity to leave. And they took it. I would want ISU to do the same if in a similar position.

I kind of feel bad for them in the current situation. If they'd stuck with the B12, they'd still have a seat at what looks to be the far better table. The B12 might invite them back, but only if they're taking 6 PAC schools.
All of the issues with the conference stems from Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Texas A&M. Everyone else was just a pawn, and Colorado escaped those issues.
This one's tricky. The AZ schools would be the same as PST since the state doesn't do daylight savings time. They'd be on Pacific Time for the first 10 weeks of the football season, but Mountain for the last 3 weeks and all of basketball season. After the last couple days and reading how the Big 12 is talking to 8 P5 and 20+ G5 schools my first thought is of course, he has expressed that we are expanding every G5 with a pulse is going to reach out to the Big 12 to express their interest. That doesnt mean we want any of them. I also feel it is the same way with the P5 schools, talk is just that talk and seeing whether there is a possible option or not. Its not a lot different than what we do here. Talk about the possible outcomes etc. I am sure no one would be surprised if every school not in the Big 10 or SEC reached out to them in the last year just to say "Hi" too.
But I have thought of something:
Yormark has said he wants to get into the Pacific Time zone. But by adding the 4 corner schools it just solidifies our footprint in the Mountain. So if we add the 4 corners to give us the P5 adds we need for the escalator trigger. What do we do to get into the Pacific Time Zone, especially if the B1G then decides to take OR/WA and/or Stan/Cal.
Do we then look at Wazzu/OSU being P5s for the escalator and in the Pacific zone? Do we look at SDSU/Fresno? Do those move the needle enough that as long as we have the escalator from the other 4 corners we are ok? Do we just abandon our push for the Pacific? Does our expansion hopes depend on getting a pair of the PAC Pacific schools in OR/WA/Stan/Cal, in order to complete the western expanse?
No, it's not. That's part of his trap. He knows that by making it sound really specific, people are less likely to doubt him. Here's his schtick:
1. Read the articles we read. If you notice, he'll tweet just after articles drop, and include a nugget of the article that we all read, so that people think his story checks out.
2. Make sure to include specific details about the **** he makes up. He knows that people are less likely to doubt and more inclined to take it seriously/share if it's specific.
3. Whenever one of his hundred made up nuggets comes to fruition, he'll pin it to his page on harp on it often to further build credibility.
4. He kicks back and watches how far his **** spreads.
I think the reason I get so worked up about it is that by sharing his tweets, we are perpetuating this cycle and allowing his following to grow. Don't be complicit. Don't share the bait, as tempting as it may be...

I think OR and WA are the hopes as far as full PST schools go. I can't see Cal or Stanford deigning to join the B12 under any circumstances, even if that means they're not in a power conference. They're B10 or bust (and likely bust for now at least).
If WA and OR don't work out, their State alternatives are still better options that SDSU, Fresno St, or any other G5.
That’s not how this type of thing works.I hear you. I just find it VERY hard to believe that he has a source who is simultaneously in the backrooms of both the Big 12 and Pac-12, and is privy to very specific numbers from both conferences. If he does indeed have such a source, than I don't know why he's not working for the New York Times instead of anonymously spewing it on twitter...

Missouri isn’t blameless. Texas etc. deserve most of the blame, but Mizzou was openly whoring itself out to get a B1G invite, which seriously destabilized the league further. That invite ultimately went to Nebraska and then Mizzou left anyway.
I have no ill will toward Colorado
The Pac12 current GOR and media rights agreement expire in June 2024. Other than loyalty, Pac12 schools would seem like free agents. At this point, I don’t think the Big12 is trying to destroy the PAC12. I think Yormark has positioned the conference to be a safe landing spot for those who want a place for when WHEN that conference fails.
The writing is on the wall, just thankful ISU is safe and the Big12 is viable still.
