Yet Another Boneheaded Move by the Iowa AD

They've been doing this for 20 years. Iowa knew damn well back in October about this. I'm willing to bet this is mostly Fran's doing. He's scared of getting embarrassed on national TV to a mediocre team. Doesn't want Illinois to have the fuel of an entire section that's full of their fans while there's empty seats in the rest of the arena.

Cliff notes version?
Absolutely worth a listen in the Iowa Everything podcast. Miller had a source that the Alford camp reached out to Mizzou and he kind of reported it. After the story came out, he said the Iowa staff basically met with him in a room he didn't know existed at CHA and tried to intimidate him. Not physically but very, very awkward sounding.

One thing you can always count on is Iowa absolutely refusing to get out of its own way. There’s not a more inept athletic department when it comes to PR.
Lol. Iowa still is historically bad at PR but the Orange Krush may be worse. Wow what a weird story.

So in summary, Barta:
1. Found out the loser Illinois fans lied about being a charity to get cheap tickets
2. Cancelled their fraudulent tickets, keeping them out of Carver this weekend
3. Baited them into making a public statement about it
4. Immediately showed the receipts AND helped out a REAL Iowa charity instead

Barta sucks, but pulled off a masterclass tonight

As much as it would suck to have KU fans buy up 200 tickets, I’d still consider it to be flattering and hope they have the best possible time while my Cyclones beat their ass on the hardwood.

The Krush has been doing things like this for years (buying group discounted tickets by lying about who they are).

Or maybe (as someone else speculated), the student group raises money for Boys and Girls club, purchases the discounted tickets through their organization and donates all of the funds raised back to Boys and Girls Club. Just because the individual that purchased the tickets is not with Boys and Girls Club doesn't mean the charity was not involved or benefiting from this activity.

Since it is such a huge concern, I am sure Iowa will have ticket checkers at all doors on Saturday to confirm every ticket presented was purchased by the person using that ticket?

Gary Barta showed receipts?

Check out this receipt:
Nah, it was a solid effort but Iowa football weathered that storm. No Doyle but Kirk ain't going anywhere. The haters couldnt even get Brian out of the program. Back to your regularly scheduled program of whooping ISU ass.

And nothing, not even UAB, will stop this Iowa basketball squad.

If they’ve been doing this for 20 years, all big 10 schools would likely know about it. 300-400 tickets is a large amount to buy. It’s still poor optics on Iowa to do this 3 days before the game. If this happens in October or November, it’s a non story.

Most Big 10 schools have taken action to stop it. Iowa hasn't for whatever reason. Look at the Krush's Wikipedia page. Here is a story about it:. https://www.cbsnews.com/chicago/news/wisch-my-orange-krush-adventure-to-evanston/

I agree it is crappy on Iowa's part to cancel it just now.

You know for certain that they were not bringing anyone from the boys and girls clubs?
