2022/23 Coaching Staff Changes

Everyone else hearing Joel Gordon is out?

Scheelhaase keeping the WR's
Jake Waters moving to RB's - He recruited Harris Jr, who committed last week
Kyle Kempt to QB coach

A LOT of youth on the offensive coaching tree if that is all true. Not hearing anything for names on the o-line
Joel Gordon is no longer listed as a coach on the roster on cyclones.com

I think this is promising, the timing makes me think that Scheelhaase is the impetus here. Might not of thought Gordon was a good fit for the system or changes he wants to make as OC. Totally reading the tea leaves here but...

Or it could be he took another job on his own…

sounds like the Boise State S&C director is coming after their bowl game. I wonder where he went to school?

Scheelhaase from KC area, played for Illinois then began coaching there (3 years), came to Ames & has been on staff decent time (5+ years) while building a reputation for being an excellent coach & better person.

Waters - from Council Bluffs, played for Iowa Western at the infancy of its football program, then played for Snyder at Kansas State & was all-conference QB. Volunteer QB coach @ Iowa Western, GA here, 2 year stint WR coach at UTEP, then back here.

Kempt from Ohio, collegiately at Oregon State before transferring to Hutchison CC, KS, then Iowa State, wins a vital game on the road at Norman, OK (I'm an old ****** & this is one of my all-time favorite victories for breaking that streak), then later has Purdy supplant him as a starter (after suffering an injury) but stays entirely loyal to the team & later becomes a GA to start his career path in coaching.

Absolutely 110% no issues with any of these moves. Just hoping the OL coach has been selected, has quality experience & is waiting in the wings for his team to complete their season so he can announce, move to Ames & get to work.

Heard that all Campbell’s Coaches must have Mount Union connection. Where is the Mount Union connection with these 3 coaches?

Kempt going from GA to QB coach? I'm a big Kempt fan, but that's quite a promotion. Similar to the promotion Meyer was given. I hope it works out much better for Kempt because I really like him.

IMO you go with whom Campbell wants. His ass is on the line.

As far as Kempt and Jeff Myers. Because Myers did not work out then Kempt must not be promoted? Stupid reasoning. Individual results vary.

Jeez, did I say Kempt must not be promoted? No, I said that going from a GA to a position coach is quite a promotion and I hope it works out better for Kempt than it did for Meyers because I really like him. Calm down.
