2022/23 Coaching Staff Changes

Maybe he was the 2nd choice and they just wanted to let him know that they were serious, while waiting for the final answer from their 1st choice. I'm sure he was getting phone calls.

That's plausible, I suppose, though I think he'd be able to see through that and I'm not sure it's the message you want to send to your up-and-coming coaching star.

I don't think we need to run a super fast tempo but we need to run with some rhythm. If Nate can do that, get ride of stupid procedural stuff, not be stupid about our motions, and just run a tighter ship that will be a big improvement. Get a good o-line coach so the line is at least average and that's a solid improvement over this year.

2 open positions then?

Anyone opposed to Ryan Clanton (UNI, line coach and OC). He makes $100K annually. We can likely triple that to get him in-line with where Myers was at for 10% the output

We utilize motion as well as anybody.

Honest opinion. Would Ryan Clanton leave for the ISU line coach job?
99.9% of the the time, I'd say 'YES', completely unequivocally. The money is in a different stratosphere and the vast majority of guys that get into coaching do it to advance and get to the highest level.

He falls in the .1% where I can honestly say 'I don't know'. He's super comfortable in his own skin and has repeatedly talked about having everything he needs in Cedar Falls. Married a local girl and just loves small town kids. I think from a personality standpoint he'd fit in well at Iowa State, he's quiet, he's not flashy and he just goes to work every day.

I think he's very good at what he does but I also think that UNI's success in getting kids in the league right now is more a product of our S&C guy than it is the football staff.

Well then we will hire them too :campbell:

Manning etal almost had to know it was coming, if not having already been officially informed even as early as the Tech game.

Which has caused me to wonder if the otherwise inexplicable goal line calls vs Tech was a big middle finger to Campbell and the team.

Probably just routine dumbness, but makes for a nice a conspiracy theory, suitable for CF.
Based on what I heard, dude was cussing up a storm up in box during those plays. So if he did it on purpose, he did a good job covering it up, haha.

Seemed like Bruns talked a lot about how we would motion people around and make it tougher on ourselves by bringing people in the box or making it obvious what we would be doing
I’d like to comment on Bruns but I won’t. That being said, that’s what the motion is supposed to do except it doesn’t make anything obvious. It tells the QB what kind of coverage the defense is in, gives the defense things to look at and creates matchups you want.

You should. We all would like the perspective of a contrarian who cant seem to find any issues or solutions to an offensive line that absolutely failed this year. I'm sure you'll offer more than an All Big 12 and third team AA, who played center, where you have to know scheme, for some of the best lines ISU has ever had.

Everyone else hearing Joel Gordon is out?

Scheelhaase keeping the WR's
Jake Waters moving to RB's - He recruited Harris Jr, who committed last week
Kyle Kempt to QB coach

A LOT of youth on the offensive coaching tree if that is all true. Not hearing anything for names on the o-line

I’m all for Gordon being gone. Purdy never got better in 4 years.

Looks like Campbell is bringing Boise St's Reid Kagy back to ISU for the head S&C job. Kagy was with ISU as an assistant S&C coach from 2016-18 (ISU Staff page) followed by 2 years at Oregon in the same role, then took the role of Dir. of Sports Performance at Boise St for 2021 and 2022 (BSU Staff page).
