The Fran fade

I remember the fouling specialist tactic a few times. It really got in some players' heads. I still don't remember Shelby though.
Was it Varley (?) who came into an Iowa game and picked up like 3 fouls quickly that would now eject him on each. Put in to stop lane penetration, they drove and he would see if he could stick their head up their rear almost.

I’m an Iowa fan and talk to Iowa fans regularly. There’s not a single fan that I’ve talked to that thinks he’s going to be as productive a NPOY candidate but most think he’s got 1st team all B10 potential. Most fans would be happy with 17-18 ppg and 7 rpgs. He will improve from last year but not to the level of his brother.
Luka Garza. Caitlin Clark. Keegan Murray.

Hawk fans love their empty result stat sheet stuffers.

That's still a very high expectation from a largely unproven player (for that kind of expectation, at least). He may very well end up doing that, but just because he shares genes with Keegan doesn't mean he'll be a great player - Take this from someone that watched Carlos Boozers brother play for ISU.
Charles Boozer was an oddity. He not only wasn't as physically gifted as Carlos, but he was also like a half foot shorter and didn't really do much of anything particularly well.

All this to say, I don't think it's a good comp for Kris. He is already closer to Keegan than Charles was to Carlos. Kris will be a fine player for the Hawks this year, and he will probably have somewhat gaudy numbers as the focal point of a Fran McCaffrey offense that loves to feature one primary scorer surrounded by good to adequate shooters.

I think Fran will run things through PMac and not Kris. He likes the big bed.

Charles Boozer. Trip down memory lane. Ruled academically ineligible his SO year, right? Did he try to up his grades at all, or what was the story with why he never ended up playing again, for ISU or anyone else?

Not exactly.

Who is supposed to be Iowa's 2nd best player this year? We all know the expectations for Kris, which I still think are unfair to him.

He's gonna need something around him to help. Is it really supposed to be the little McCafferys as those dudes?

Tough question I think there's possibly 3 that could be 2nd best. Perkins, P. McCaffrey and Sandfort.
