The Fran fade

Good lord. I go back to the Johnny days and I have no recollection of those guys. Must have been impact players...
Carlo was ruled academically ineligible after the first semester but was showing real promise. Great on ball defender. Floyd used Shelby as a “fouling specialist” a few times. Lol.

I remember the fouling specialist tactic a few times. It really got in some players' heads. I still don't remember Shelby though.

Not outlandish but the questions are still valid. Is it improvement or was Fran slow playing a player who deserved more playing time? No matter what is actually true there would be all sorts of speculation.
I’ve seen nothing to suggest that Fran would slow play a player if you’re suggesting he was doing that to make sure he came back. Fran has many faults but he’s a players coach first and foremost. Kris most definitely wasn’t as good as Keegan last year (obviously) and there’s only so many shots to go up coupled with his foul trouble I think that held back his minutes and playing the same position as Keegan.

I'm not suggesting it but it has been brought up and it will continue to be a question if he blossoms this year.

Oh, I can guarantee there will be hawk fans even asking the question if he turns out to be first team big 10 this year. "Why didn't Kris get more minutes last year instead of the king of bounce passes?"
He did get more minutes than Connor but also led the team in fouls. Kris showed a lot of skills but he wasn’t a great ball handler last year. I would’ve liked to see both Kris and Keegan on the floor more at the same time last year though.

If Kris is so good, why wasn’t he starting over Connor or Patrick?

I’m an Iowa fan and talk to Iowa fans regularly. There’s not a single fan that I’ve talked to that thinks he’s going to be as productive a NPOY candidate but most think he’s got 1st team all B10 potential. Most fans would be happy with 17-18 ppg and 7 rpgs. He will improve from last year but not to the level of his brother.

If he is a first team all big ten player this year then Fran was an absolute dumb ass for bringing him off the bench

It's always fascinating when discussing Iowa bball how defense is almost never considered. It's beyond an after thought.

It would make zero sense if Kris is as good this year as Keegan was last year. If that is the case why did he play half the minutes that his brother did last year? And why is he waiting an extra year before starting to earn big NBA $$$?
Kris isn’t near the athlete that his brother is. I don’t expect Kris to put up anywhere close to the numbers that his brother did.
