Or put in a qualifier on auto-bids like Top 15 ranked and no reason to make a change if there are fewer Power Conferences.

People want the playoff to be inclusive, but over the last decade most of the G5 teams ranked in top 15 in final poll will be in the Big12 go forward. The main exception being Boise.

Also what if we see the Pac12 dissolve and only have 4 power conferences?

Seems like there has to be a restriction on how low an auto qualifier can be ranked.

If the SEC isn’t willing to pay some sort of buyout for OUT and the massive war chest texas has isn’t enough no team from the ACC is moving for more then a decade.

Could be. Timing could be contingent on CFB Playoff expanding to 12 teams after 2024 season.

As long as there's only a 4 team playoff, moving OUT to SEC is probably less of a financial windfall.

I don't think it was a coincidence the working group with Sankey & Bowlsby proposed a 12 team format on June 10, 2021. Around 40 days later word leaked that OUT were joining the SEC.

Those are 2 separate legal agreemts though, arent they? Couldnt they (at least in theory) renegotiate the tv deals and the GoR is unaffected? Say, if ND joined formally or something like that.

Which is not a good thing! Having the FBS exist but then deciding that half of those teams would never play meaningful football sucks and CFB is literally the only sporting league who intentionally excludes half the field from winning a title

I was hoping we'd just be able to move from OuT early and put it all behind us, but if it means that FOX will be more likely to pony up for our next tv deal, than i guess I'm on board with it.
