What's ISU's Skeleton in the Closet?

Dan McCarney hire.
Alright somebody explain to me how the domestic abuse coming to light in the 11th hour wasn't embarrassing?
Your take is like your penis: it’s ugly and nobody wants to see it…it’s best kept zipped up and put away. If you do feel the need to whip it out, go to the hok boards- they have an affinity for the small things.

Non the less, it was embarrassing. There's no excuse for the university to get blind sided by this after they announced the hire. Assuming most that dumbed the comment weren't aware. Those that were aware obviously don't live in reality.
You realize Mac was hired 25+ years ago. Info wasn't as readily available.

It was a black eye at the time. But the firestorm was pretty short lived. And obviously ISU was satisfied with Mac & spouse explanation.

People make mistakes. Obviously ISU made a great decision to give McCarney the job. He's been outstanding representative of ISU.

Also, people tend to forget he was coach at Wisky when it happened. Did they take action?

It wasn’t the stone ages either. Every pseudo competent service doing a background check would’ve found this immediately and every competent employer would’ve done a background check. They either were incompetent or saw this, went ahead thinking it would slide under the radar. It would’ve looked better to at least get in front of it.

That wasn't even the worst background check during that era of ISU athletics.

McDermott

More specifically how he and his staff basically forced Wesley Johnson to leave the team due to shear and utter incompetence. Nothing like losing a future lottery pick simply because you, your staff, and trainers are too moronic to identify a stress fracture.

I was a freshman in '95 and the McCarney thing didn't even register to most of the students. The football team was a joke at that point.
