2022 Recruiting/Transfer Class

I'm not saying he didn't do good things. He played 15+ minutes a night, so he should of done a handful of good thing ga for us. All I'm Saying is if he doesn't play at all that would be ideal for our team.

He can't move his feet laterally, he doesn't protect the rim, he can't dribble, or facilitate, and he definitely can't shoot the ball. Hell he isn't even a great rebounder, because he can't out jump other bigs.

IMO there isn't a scenario where player like that should see the floor at a P5/P6 School. I'm not a D1 athlete, so I'm not trying to bash him. But he was suppose to be a "Banger" someone who roughed up some other bigs, and he rarely did that, especially in conference play.

So you are saying Jones is un-coachable? His development is done at 21? Crap you might want to reach out and let him know it's a waste of his time to attend S&C sessions or individual work with the coaches this off season!

Not sure what you ae looking for in a banger. A guy breaking bones?

Jones fills a role and IMO he has embraced that role. He's an energy guy whose motor is non-stop. He might never be a 20-30mpg guy. But unless we sign an enforcer type this spring, Jones will get his minutes when matchups dictate. I have no idea at this point what Big12 rosters look like for next season, but Jones will have a big role when we square off against posts like Lampkin of TCU or Thamba of Baylor.

I heard there is a legit chance he reclassify's and goes to college this year. Also hearing there is a very legit chance that we land him. Should know more about that in June-July though.
I get that the floor is probably lower getting Biliew than a Basile type, but my goodness would that be a huge win for TJ and his staff. Even just for recruiting momentum/the pub alone it would be amazing.

I would say against those guys you generally would rather get them off the floor by making their lives hell on defense than play a much worse version for a lot of minutes.

I think Webb is right that ideally, he's not gonna be getting tons of minutes. I appreciate his effort but people vastly overrate him because they didn't expect anything. I get it if he's an end-of-the-bench/very spot minutes role, someone has to do it. But planning on anything more than that during this point of the year at this level is hamstringing your team. Injuries happen, people leave, basically last year happens and you're happy to have him. In this point of the offseason, though, you should be building your team so a guy with those metrics doesn't get asked to play a ton.

Here I thought I accidentally posted in ‘22 instead of ‘23…so either this was a great coincidence or this is a superb troll job…either way let’s get this guy!

For a "banger" in today's basketball. I'm looking for someone who isn't a liability on D, Which he is. And someone who can rebound, which he didn't.

I didn't realize I said i couldn't develop (I didn't).

What I did say, and I don't think anyone on here can disagree with me. If he doesn't play at all next season. That would be best case scenario for our team.

I don't hate the kid, but From the eye test alone, watching all of the games last season. There is no place for a big that can't do the basic "big" things. Rebound, block shots, dunk a basketball when at the rim.

I think TJ saw Tech destroy us 2.5 times last year, with being able to switch everything 1-5, and he wants to have that ability. With Bob Jones that is not possible because he can only guard other teams 5's.

You did say he couldn't pass and I don't think that's true.

Fair.

All I'm getting at is he isn't as athletic as you would like/need in a P6. And if you're not super athletic then you need to be above average in majority of the things you do, or Elite in 1 thing. IMO, I don't think he is either.

Here's the thing on Jones. He's the only big we have that will accept an out of the position role. Right now we have 3 in the rotation bigs counting King at semester.

I totally understand and agree. I'm happy with what he did for our team last year, because we needed that.

Again, I'll I'm saying is that if he didn't play at all this year, that would be best case scenario for our team, this year.

We definitely need to be recruiting over him, and if anyone thinks differently they're delusional.
