AJ Green Leaves the Portal - Staying in Draft

Yea but Scheyer's spreadsheet with the $$$ numbers is still alive and well.
AJ is an outstanding student. A degree from Duke is hard to resist.
Yes, if they really want him I imagine he could get mega dollars from Duke - and most likely nothing, or very little, above normal athletic benefits from ISU.
That said, I hope that family connections and a great chance to display his skills bring him to Ames. I am still optimistic.
Dukes brand exceeds Coach K. His departure means very little. His retirement has been known all year and the still have the #1 class in America. 4 5 star kids.

He’s a great student and a high level basketball player. He’ll have no issue getting into Duke masters programs later. There’s zero cost in that regard.

Basketball and social fit much higher factors

Hate to say it, but first or second guy off the bench at Duke will get tons more exposure than a 40 minute per game guy at ISU.

You'd think that, but there are countless examples of guys going to blue bloods where its clear to most fans their minutes will be sparse but they go anyways. Yesefu is a perfect example.
I wouldn’t say Yesufu is a “perfect example”. He will be a junior. If Green decides to play college basketball next year, it’s his last year.

To me, that’s a pretty significant difference.

Get to the NCAA with Iowa State of the Big 12. Be the star. Have a few great games in the Tourney. First round pick maybe.

Tons? How do you figure? Big12 is on every week too. For the most part, we and Big12 games were on TV just as much as Duke. Duke was on ACC network and maybe network channels for high profile games plus those w/NCar , but I thought we were on just as much. (of course many on ESPN+).

Duke is on the Champions Classic at the start of the season and in every major non-conference matchup against other bluebloods. tThe tons of love they get from ESPN is unreal. Not even close.

'Be the star' is key.
One coaching staff will try to sell-- "you'll be a key piece", the other staff only has to sell-- "our offense will start with you."
