I was super impressed with him when I watched him play basketball a few times this year. If he ends up picking us you have to feel great about the QB room.
Dekkers followed Becht or Kohl sounds very solid. Both Becht and Kohl are scheduled to be around through 2026.
Recruiting the QB position has got to be so tough. You want quality depth, but you've already got Dekkers for the next few years, signs pointing towards Becht being good, etc. I imagine most QB rooms are a bit cluttered but it has to be a hard position to recruit with only one seeing the field at a time.

Yes, however, backup is one play away from finishing the game, and starting next few. Just sayin....
That said, Dekkers is one tough young man. Perhaps the most physical of all Big 12 QBs this season and I'd venture to say nationally.
Will be SO this year. In 2023 it'll look like this:
Dekkers - RS JR
Becht - RS FR (unless he plays in more than 3 games)
Kohl - true FR, likely redshirting
Yeah, you just have to recruit the best possible guys, and then understand that someone might get frustrated with lack of PT and leave.
Usually Trieu and Wiltfong are dead on. I do believe Trieu was in KC for his 7on7 thing with J Patton, so guessing he slipped him some info there.
If Kohl commits to ISU then I think it’s a done deal for Patton. I don’t have inside info, but my kid plays for Roosevelt. I’m sure it was not an easy decision for Jamo to transfer to Ankeny and he’s only doing it to play with Kohl. I was impressed that Jamo came to the Roosevelt basketball banquet a couple weeks ago after he was already attending Ankeny. That had to be tough and took some courage.
Or get a NIL deal elsewhere.

this happens to excellent teams: a lot of competitions and at the end of the day, good players leave because there are better players.
