The younger guys on this board have no idea the kind of QBs we had at the end of the Walden years and in the early McCarney years. The caliber of high school recruit that Campbell’s staff can go after now is on a whole other plane. I’m not knocking Marvin’s Miracle or Bob Utter or the other guys, but they were not in the same league as the guys above and I’m sure they would admit it.+1
this happens to excellent teams: a lot of competitions and at the end of the day, good players leave because there are better players.

I think about this a lot. You ideally want to have your planned starting quarterbacks to be spaced out by two years. That way, you can get 2-3 years (depending on redshirt) to get some good use out of them, while the next one learns the offense, then when you starter is finished, your next person up will either be a sophomore or Junior.
This is why I was surprised Aiden stayed for as long as he did, even before last season, it seemed like he was the number 3 quarterback on the team, behind Purdy and Dekkers.
Wonder how much Steele would have got with NIL around. I mean his name was a marketing Gem. Not to mention his boy band looks. He could have killed the NIL market.
I think we are set at QB for the next few years. Hope he signs on the line that is dotted, but if not, that's ok too.
I’m not going to count on Hunter being around more than a year, which would open it up for the younger QB’s a year from now.
He’s got a ton of physical potential, he’s been in the system for two years (unlike Brock when he took over the starting role), and he’s going to have what may be the most talented receiving corps of the past forty years.
Much as when Breece and Jirehl committed while David Montgomery was still around, I’m pretty sure that young Mr Kohl is quite aware of the possibilities.
Kohl is literally the definition of a prototypical QB. I can’t remember the last time we had a guy like that.

Nah. If Dekkers played that well, there would be a strong chance he’d declare. Dekkers would probably be gone after 2023 in that scenario. I doubt Kohl is demanding to be a day one starter.
I’d be more concerned about Becht in that scenario.
Never know.
But if he has a banner year, he would probably be a top 3/4 round player and there is probably better money there.
