Relocating to utah

Has anyone relocated to the Utah area specifically St George or cedar City. The opportunity seems to be presenting itself and we're doing the initial research on the pros and cons of such a move.
 
St George is a pretty area but scenery isn't everything. There's one HUGE con to living in Utah and it's something everyone has to evaluate for themselves.
After spending as much time in Utah as I have, it would be a quick no for me.

High crime rate? ****** economy? Low standard of living? Exorbitant taxes? Lol.

Only lived there for a short duration, so not sure I got the full effect, but they wouldn’t keep me away. I think it’s a very underrated state, especially if you’re into outdoor activities.

My third hand understanding is that, if you’re outside of Salt Lake City, being a non-Morman in Utah can be a lot like being a Caucasian living in non-tourist Hawaii. Per Wikipedia, 78% of residents identity as religious, and 63.4% are LDS. But you’re a 2 hour drive from Vegas, so there’s that.

Can't be worse than not being Dutch in NWIA.

A friend of mine moved to St. George last year, he lasted 6 months and moved back. He said the area had grown so rapidly that the infrastructure (roads, etc.) had not kept up, traffic was terrible. Housing prices had grown so rapidly that he actually broke even financially.
 
PM’d you. Lived there with my family 3.5 years (in a more rural spot than St. George - non LDS).

Utah is one of my favorite states to drive through. Just amazing natural beauty. Pulled into St George at night. Woke up the next morning to an amazing place.

Other than that I can't offer you much more than a relative of mine moved there to escape the people of Seattle.... Whatever that means.

It seems like a beautiful place. It is interesting how welcoming the state is to immigrants.

Husband’s experience starting Catholic school kindergarten in the 1960’s in SLC is probably not particularly relevant to you or anyone for that matter

When?

Lived in SLC for a while, the culture counter culture war got old for us. Beautiful State though and tons of outdoor rec.
