Ranking the Big 3 Bracketologists

There were a total of 211 brackets in the Bracket Matrix. Here's how the big network guys faired.

Decourcy (FOX) - 9th place
Lunardi (ESPN) - tied for 150th place
Palm (CBS) - tied for 193rd place
Lunardi's was bad as expected. I swear Palm was drunk though. There seemed to be no logic with a lot of his picks.

Lunardi got the field mostly correct but was way off on the seeding. Pretty much what everyone has been saying about him for a long time.

Palm and Lunardi have been living high on the hog for years on this stuff without much in terms of competition. But now with hundreds of others jumping in the bracketology pool they have to feel a LITTLE bit of heat from their networks when they aren't even in the top half of the predictors. That's something if I were their superior would be like 'you bring us a lot of clicks and eyeballs but you need to figure out why you're failing miserably in terms of seeds....work on it and stop embarrassing us or we'll hire one of these young experts.'

I get what you're saying, but it's not like this is new. It's been known he's bad for years and still most people talk about Lunardi like it's gospel. Most people just don't pay that much attention to this stuff.

I’ll never forget Palm’s bowl projections from several years ago that had K-State in the Alamo Bowl as the #1 selection from the Big 12. And they ended up in the Liberty Bowl. Lol.

His projections, both football and basketball, are the worst I’ve seen from a national “expert”. This seems to confirm that.

So was the biggest seeding miss by the Committee according the Matrix-- Iowa State?
Yes, at a difference of 1.48 seed line variance (9.52 to 11 seed). Boise State was second at 1.06 (6.94 to 8 seed). ISU probably should have stayed on the 10 line and just swap places with Miami, FL.

I was thinking the same thing, but if it was close between us and Miami, they did us both a favor moving them to SCarolina and us to Milwaukee. My guess is that’s what happened

I agree, I think it was swapped to make each closer geographically (better attendance potential). Perhaps not common but I'm sure it has happened previously (but only if teams are close to the seed line).

Expanding on the concept -- It would seem to give the 11 and 10 advantage over the 6/7 for "crowd support," but the 2/3 seed teams then might get a slightly weaker opponent (seed-wise) in round 2. ... Not sure if I explained it clearly.
