Stadium construction ...

It’s a bigger version of Drake Stadium, without a premier track event every year. KU putting money into that stadium is a losing proposition because the stands are so far from the field due to the former track. They need to raise and/or finance $250mm and build a compact new stadium like Baylor did. Play in Arrowhead (or Lawrence High School stadium) for a year while they tear down the current stadium and build new.

I think that you're right. Instead of putting money into that stadium, just play in Arrowhead for a year and start new. One think that ISU has that KU doesn't is fan support for FB. Their fans have been beaten down and just don't show up. If you start with a smaller stadium, that makes it a little more intimate. You can grow from there if they start winning.

Yep.

They should start with like a 40k capacity stadium that has the infrastructure to expand to 50k+ if they need it.

I'm not sure what I wrote that's holy, perhaps in this day and age facts are that, there are so few? But to be called out on national radio is never a good thing. And it surprised me that ISU fans, of all schools, were put on the spot. King was not generous with his comments. Then I read the comments here this morning directed at me for simply posting a third-party tweet, and I thought: welp!
You're right! We are a horrible, terrible, nasty fanbase. It's so bad you should leave and never come back. That will show us!

It's definitely old. It was built in 1921 and is the oldest remaining FBS "Memorial Stadium": dedicated to the KU students who died in WW I.

Architecturally (not necessarily structurally) speaking, it's worth retaining that promenade and being more creative on the interior. That way the memorial is still represented. But, by God, please don't do it like Soldier Field.

They can't do that. That high school stadium seats 4000. Kansas football fans will get lost in all of those seats.

KIng McClure is a terrible analyst.

Horrible. I don’t get going after him personally on Twitter, but he’s really bad.

I do like hearing about facility upgrades around the conference. I think that some people need to just put surly on ignore rather than attacking any time he says something.

I just listened to an interesting Heartland podcast that talked about this and other Big12 topics.

Short version. Many schools should stop wasting money on facilities that might not make a difference in W/L's. Instead have those donors just funnel the money into NIL for better caliber players.

Also talked about how Big12 should move headquarters and FB CCG out of Texas/Dallas, and BB Tourney out of KC, which benefits the state of Missouri.

My suggestion, have KU play in Ames, that way the majority of fans at the game won't have to travel.;)
