I think the last Chiefs game I have been to in person was when Haley was coaching and Arrowhead was not sold out that day. Remember a couple fans in our section got into a heated argument about Haley which may have been have been about the best part of the game watching them cuss out each other on whether or not he sucked. LOL.
I had to go look up where Haley is now and he currently the head coach and GM of the newly formed Tampa Bay Bandits in the USFL. His last gig in the NFL was offensive coordinator for the Browns.

The Kansas City Chiefs plan to begin discussing the future of Arrowhead Stadium within the next year after the neighboring Royals announced plans earlier this year to explore moving to a new downtown ballpark.

I can't imagine the Chiefs playing anywhere else so I would hope they decide just to renovate the stadium more somehow. To me leaving Arrowhead would be like closing down Soldier Field in Chicago or Lambeau in Green Bay. Two other passionate fan bases that love their stadiums too and ironically those are also the 3 oldest stadiums in the NFL right now too.
If the Royals were to move (which I think is just stupid as Kaufman is an excellent stadium), I could see the Chiefs try to build a new stadium on the Kaufman footprint so that Arrowhead could still be used temporally .
It's still crazy IMO. Both of those stadiums are great but we seem to be a society that has to have all the bells and whistles no matter what. Plus I would hope that Hunt wouldn't try to force Jackson county to help build a $2-3 billion stadium (?) when the last upgrade tax barely passed. Maybe having all the recent success changes that.
I don't know how the Royals could sell a new stadium with their market to be honest. Look at how Pittsburgh conned their fans into building PNC Park with the carrot that a new stadium would mean they would have more revenue to field a competitive team. Well the Pirates still suck 20 years later and only won 80+ games 4 times since they opened the stadium and made the playoffs 3 times 2013-2015 and lost twice in the wild card game and once in the NLDS.
The Royals have only made the playoffs twice since 1985 making the World Series back to back years in 2014 and 2015 and winning in 2015. It's not like a new stadium will change their fortunes. I think Kauffman Stadium is a nice park for the market and opening a new stadium is just going to be a financial burden and a lot of empty seats just like it has been in Pittsburgh. Stadiums with all the bells and whistles are nice but if you don't have the leadership and financial backing to go with it you just have a nice stadium with seats to fill. You don't go to games because the stadium is new and looks good you go because the team you are watching is entertaining to watch and the atmosphere is fun.
I love sports but pro sports franchises getting cities to build brand new stadiums when the ones they have are completely fine absolutely infuriate me. Arrowhead is a great stadium. I'm going today and really looking forward to it.
Furthermore I don't get the obsession with downtown ballparks for teams, especially in 2022 when less people are going to the office than ever. Yeah, let's move from a place with a ton of parking to a place where it's going to be really hard to park. That'll bring 'em in!

This one is certainly divisive in KC. City leaders seem to really want baseball downtown to drive more development of bars and restaurants and the sort. Of course that makes them more tax revenue as well. A lot of fans seem to like the current setup. Easy access and great parking make for a wonderful tailgate setup all summer long. Of course tailgates don't bring money to the city, just parking fees straight to the ball club
I hope they leave both stadiums right where they are. They are both great places to watch a game, and for what my family wants to do the setup is perfect.
The argument for a downtown stadium is based on having an entire entertainment districts and all kinds of walkable venues around the stadium. As opposed to Kauffman which is out on an island between the interstates with nothing around it and no opportunity to build around it (and the surrounding areas are pretty rough). It’s not a sports based argument, it’s a bigger picture deal. It would be really cool in alot of ways, but I also love how easy it is to get in and out of the current sports complex and selfishly, it’s really convenient for me.
I’ll believe the downtown stadium will happen when I see it - it would likely require removing the downtown interstate loop and acquiring tons of other land. Loads of $. Maybe it happens 30 years from now, I bet Kaufman gets another minor renovation in the interim but 30-40 years out it’ll be really old, maybe that will be the time.
They already have the land identified and it won't change any road patterns.
This will be like the airport. People like the setup, but nobody cares what the people like.
The locals users just like being able to get in, through security, and on the plane really quickly. It’s pretty crappy for actual travelers.
The airport in KC is old and outdated without a doubt, but it also serves its purpose well, it's not a visibly appalling place to fly out of but is a great place to get on and off airplanes. It's also easy to get and out of much like the Truman Sports Complex. Both sit right by the interstate, which is very desirable when people travel or go to a game.
This. It's great if you live here, but terrible if you have to layover here for any reason. The amenities are nonexistent.

Ah crap you are right. He should have waited until after the super bowl. Now we’ll have to listen to them deify him. Annoying.
Brady hasn't said anything himself yet, it's ESPN leaking supposed sources close to him who say he is. If he is retiring he probably wanted to wait longer before announcing it.
