Dear ISU AD: Please Stop Changing Hilton

What about the lights
Lights (to me and my assumption) was likely a shift to energy efficient LEDs, vs old warm tones we knew and loved.

The darkness was probably just sold to them as a 'cinematic' feature that would be nice.

People went to the game last night and have complaints about Hilton?
I wasn’t at the game. But watching on TV, the student section being twice as far from the court is definitely noticeable. That 15ft of concrete behind the basket looks bad. Imagine Duke moving the students 20 feet away from the court. The atmosphere is still great, but this certainly doesn’t help.

Please AD step up and fix this. Please, support our team and program to have the best advantages as possible. It is absolutely senseless to deliberately take away the advantage. And marketing, because it is dark, casual college bb fans and potential recruits can't see what the real Hilton is all about.

Some of the changes seem odd, but there seems to be a divide between who was actually there last night and who watched on TV.

Last night was vintage Hilton. People got fired up for big plays, defense and dunks and forced Iowa to call TO a handful of times.

I get that some things have changed from the Hilton of old, but right after a big rivalry win that included a great crowd is an odd time to do so.

I thought JP said it was due to constraints of chairs set up. Why not just have cyclone alley set up the chairs? They get there early anyways.
Also - RIP Pemsl.

Whelp, we had a solid 8 hour love fest, but now back to CF default mode of ******** about things.

I'd agree with this most the time, but it was bothering me last night win or lose. I remember being a student up there and it can effect things.

Exhibit A: I was there and that floor was ******* shaking.

Didn't even have to click the video to know this was Texas 2004. That game was crazy as a student!

When I was in college, long time ago, there were no tables set up on the ends of the courts. With those there, it does bottle neck traffic and movement some. Maybe they are planning an more advertising on the ends also.

From my friend that works with Hilton set up and take down. From what he heard it was a safety concern that forced the changes. They wanted more space for event staff to move around with behind the basketball. Plus to reduce the chances an opponent player might interact with the student section if one jumps into the area behind the baskets. I didn't ask about the little fence because this was the first game I noticed those. However, yeah the big reason sounds like an ease of movement. I think it is dumb since you can't even see the students anymore while watching the game.
