It isn't just Mahomes. Guys are dropping passes or passes, guys are fumbling, and WRs seem to be out of sink with Mahomes at times., The offense as a whole, even the coaches are struggling. Also, I know Andy doesn't like to run but this line can run block and there is plenty of room to run. Defense needs a revamp on the DL and they need more help at LB. Gay looks like he could be good if he stays healthy and I think Bolton can be an upgrade but They need one more. I think DBs would be fine if Chiefs could actually get pressure because that is where it all starts with Spags defense.

The problem with running the ball more, is the Chiefs do not have a back that can hurt you when they run the ball. Last night over and over they would pick the wrong crease to run through, getting 5 when if they would have gone left or right they could have gotten more.

We have spent to many high draft picks on the offense, while ignoring the defense except the couple of LB's taken in the second round the past two years. Great teams find value in the later rounds of the draft, and the Chiefs just have not done that on the defensive side of the ball.

I have heard that they have been looking at other running backs since Edwards-Helaire got hurt. I had also heard that the coaches weren't really happy with him. It sounds like he was not making the correct reads and not doing the things that made him good at LSU. He would have lots of opportunities to make a play and pick the wrong hole and get stuffed. I think they kept giving him chances for the light bulb to come on and it hasn't yet. I hope they get another back because he seems like a bust at this point.

Gore looked pretty good last night in limited time.

Mahomes just not getting thru his progressions nearly as well this year. Can't believe he missed Kelce at the end of the game last night (I needed 3 points in fantasy yet).

I think Darryl Williams and Gore are both decent backs. I like Williams as a third down back because he is a good receiver. They can pick ups some decent yards but neither one has a lot of speed. It would be nice to have a back that can turn a 10 yard run into a big play by breaking loose due to some speed.
 
Peyton and Eli hit it dead on last night that Mahomes needs to just throw it away or take the sack sometimes when the defense has him instead of forcing something because he's got away with it in the past and made a play but defenses have figured him out and he's not having the luck he did early in his career throwing those into coverage. I also think the OL has been a disappointment from a pass protection standpoint. They spent a lot of resources trying to improve it but still feels like Mahomes is still running for his life more than he should be.

The drops are killing them too, Kelce had several last night an Hill has had his fair share of them too. Just have not had the rhythm and mojo that we have seen from that unit. Not much you can do with this defense for now other than try to run some different schemes or matchups with the personnel they have. They are terrible against the run and the secondary commits too many penalties because they get beat on routes a lot. As big of a Chiefs fan that I am, I'm nervous with this tough stretch coming up they are going to miss the playoffs if they don't improve drastically soon.
 
I wonder if the Chiefs sign Jaylon Smith. The Packers just released him after only 1 game since being released by Dallas. I believe the Chiefs were interested but he went to GB instead, Could be the third linebacker along with Gay and Bolton.

Veach and Reid love former first round pick reclamation projects. Taco Charlton, Reggie Ragland, DeAndre Baker, Mike Hughes...
 
Just saw they traded Dr. Tardiff for a tight end. I thought they already had 4 on the active roster. Seems like an odd trade to me.

Makes you wonder if one or more of the TEs is hurt or limited by some sort of nagging injury. Kelce could be in that boat. He hasn't looked normal for the last few games.

I would probably do it. It's only for like 8 or 9 games at an affordable price. If he turns out to be a headache (I don't think he will be with Chiefs) then you just cut him.

I agree. We need a good underneath possession Wideout. Teams have shown their hands. We're going to get 2 deep safety bend but don't break defenses.

I'd agree if we hadn't looked so lackluster 9 games in. I see your point and it's a fair one. I don't think this team as is can contend this year
