NFL: Kansas City Chiefs Thread

Stop with this. Mahomes' contract is not "crippling" the Chiefs. Many players have cap hits similar. He's not an outlier.

The real "crippling" contracts are Frank Clark (literally zero production while making $25.8M cap) and Chris Jones isn't exactly doing much either.
Agreed. Mahomes is counting for less than $10 million against the cap this year. That's not what is holding the Chiefs back, right now. It's not until next year that his cap number goes up to $35 million and the year after he's at $45 million

The overall salary cap will go up as his cap hit goes up so it will be level-ish. Something like 20% of the salary cap.

The major issue is the defense obviously. Second highest paid defensive unit and almost literally the worst statistical defense in HISTORY.

Frank Clark is doing nothing. Chris Jones is doing nothing. Our safeties have to make way too many tackles which means our linebackers (Iowa products Ben Niemann and Anthony Hitchens) stink. Speaking of safeties, other than the Baltimore game what has Mathieu done? Our DBs are constantly getting cooked.

Also, Orlando Brown got torched yesterday. At this point have to franchise him. Can we trust giving him $100M??

Veach needs to overhaul so many spots and draft better.

It amazing chiefs can't figure out how to attack these soft zones this year. I was really hoping the revamped oline would open up the run game more this year.

This is real bad. Giants have no one on offense healthy and still winning. League finally caught up to the chiefs. This whole year, nothing seems in rhythm and chiefs are turning the ball over so much on these long drives.

Remember the movie Moneyball where Brad Pitt trades the first baseman so the manager (RIP PSH) can't play him anymore??? That's what Veach needs to do with Sorenson. Just cut him so Spags can't play him.

It isn't just Mahomes. Guys are dropping passes or passes, guys are fumbling, and WRs seem to be out of sink with Mahomes at times., The offense as a whole, even the coaches are struggling. Also, I know Andy doesn't like to run but this line can run block and there is plenty of room to run. Defense needs a revamp on the DL and they need more help at LB. Gay looks like he could be good if he stays healthy and I think Bolton can be an upgrade but They need one more. I think DBs would be fine if Chiefs could actually get pressure because that is where it all starts with Spags defense.
