One note: in some of the pregame stuff, they showed some of the players eating corn to make it look like they had gotten it out of the field....like you can just go up to any corn field and start eating it.

I'd actually like to know how many people don't know that that's not how it works.

This is just a marketing triumph for MLB. No doubt about it.

Game would be more competitive if the Yankees actually had one of their regular starters available to pitch. This is going to be something like 7-2 Sox with Lynn for the Sox versus the can of tomatoes the Yanks will have on the mound. The "Replacement Yanks" have been winning (with smoke and mirrors) but they can't keep that up heading into a stretch of tougher teams without most of their starters. Getting guys back in September or late August is going to be too late.

This is almost a guarantee the Yankees will will this game! LOL

Love this whole production so far. The movie clips between innings, the homers in the corn, the scoreboard, everything.

When he came out, it was really cool.

And that's all he needed to do.

Costner walking out was cool. The players walking out was even cooler. The several minutes of him wandering around the outfield looking confused in between was a terrible creative decision. It totally killed the vibe, IMO.

I thought it was great. Costner came out of the corn, both lineups walked out of the corn and got introduced around the infield.

How did the Hollywood producers ever pick rural Dyersville for the movie anyway?

I watched an interesting documentary on FS1 this afternoon (see the replay at 2:00am tonight).

The book was set in the Iowa City area and it seems like they knew they wanted eastern Iowa. There was some woman in Dubuque that did some work for them and she scouted sites. They needed a big White House with a porch and a long drive way. And there needed to be room for a baseball field close to the house.

But the transition from the movie field to the game is literally through a few rows of corn. That is incredible
