Iowa Nice Guy arrested

I'm still amazed how someone comes on this forum, admits he has an OWI, then proceeds to claim some moral high ground on other people for his views on drunk driving. When those other people are not justifying the act of drunk driving just saying what happens and how certain things may be done. All because only his opinion is superior because he "learned his lesson". Yet others were smart enough to not make that mistake in the first place, even though he claims to still be superior.

No one on this forum once said drunk driving is right. No one said it should be legal. No one said anything like that. People said certain things are done here or there, and things like booze cruising happens etc. It was a discussion, period. Many also said it wasn't right to publicly blast this guy, not knowing the entire story. And some of you automatically took that as justification and started putting words in peoples posts. It was said that Booze cruising on country gravel roads is less dangerous, well it is, because those of us from rural areas know that country road booze cruising is done at extremely low speeds. This is different than straight up DD, on highways and roads to get from point A to B. This is not a justification it is not anything saying it is right, it is just what it is, a statement, of what happens.

Those of you that have never put on a pair of work boots, never gotten your hands dirty, never spent a day in rural America, or have no actual knowledge of rural life should just keep your mouth shut. Too many of you have lived a sheltered life in your metro apartment, scared to go out and see what the real world is. How would you live without a Starbucks on the corner, and a Walmart down the street?

Many of you in this forum should realize there are a lot of Iowa State fans from all walks of life, and many of those are Rural people. Amazing how many keyboard warriors there are on this forum, I can only imagine how they would act and speak to someone in person. My guess is the courage stops at the keyboard.

I've lived both of these lives...both have their benefits, and both can have their separations from various aspects of the real world.

My experience is folks from my home town protect themselves from acknowledging the realities outside of the area, and in the area itself.

By the way when I lived in the apartment phase I had no Starbucks nor anything resembling Walmart down the street. Lived just fine.

I too have lived both. But as you see, it does not take long for those that love to bash the other community, to come out. Even when they have no experience in that other community.

Lol

You start by denouncing those who claim some sort of moral high ground because of their perspective, then 2 paragraphs later are talking about how "people who never put on workboots should keep their mouths shut"

Slow down, kitten, you're going to get whiplash.

Sort of like you did?

Starbucks and Walmart aren't real??

Am I in the matrix??

Well at least I know who all the City Boys are in here are. Careful, you don't want to get your penny loafers dirty sometime you feel adventurous and go to the farmers market.

Pretty sad when you guys are fans of an ag school in an ag state when the closest some of you have ever been to a farm is at the State Fair or Living History Farms, and then you claim to know something about Rural life.

You see its easy to make fun of the other community. I myself don't really care, but what I did notice was none of the Rural people attacking the City People or the City Life for their opinions or statements.

What I did see is the Urban People taking Rural life statements and other opinions out of contexts and bashing them right away as unintelligent because they are "rural" and somehow they believe Urban is superior. I saw this over and over again. But as soon as I come out to defend the rural life and people, it was immediate that the urbanites came out in force to attack me and what I said. And immediately point out that I did exactly what they did....except it was not ok for me.

Like I said I have seen both sides, I have lived both. And I chose to move close to an Urban area but still live in a rural community. So I could have the benefits of both, with not many of the negatives of either. There is a reason many people move to small communities and rural areas to raise a family, especially when they are originally from them.

But I can't stand ignorance and I will call people on it and throw it right back at people when I see it, no matter what side you are on.
