Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Since we’re throwing stuff on the wall, how about this?

KU goes to ACC to join the other BB crazy schools.

B1G somehow gets ND to join. ND revenue allows them to stomach ISU as the 16th team

ESPN is the partner for the Longhorn network, ESPN has also bought the rights to broadcast the SEC starting in 2024 or so. They must be planning on rolling the LHN into those rights and guaranteeing UT that they will make more than the 15 million they were getting from the LHN under the new SEC deal.
If that's true the 'delta' factor won't be in play. In other words, that significant portion over other teams in the league will disappear. That, in essence, brings more parity to the league. This whole thing just does not add up for Texas.

The more I think about it, I think ISU will be ok IF every conference does the 16 team thing.

Iowa State would make a perfect pairing with Kansas if the Big Ten is going to expand.

If the Big Ten doesn’t take Iowa State, there actually would potentially be a good amount of value for the Pac-12 to pick up four of the Big 12 left-behinds. As it stands now, there isn’t a single Pac-12 conference game that starts before 3 or 4pm Eastern Time. Having a pod in the Midwest gives the Pac-12 access to the Noon Eastern time slot. The Pac-12 would be the only conference with four TV time slots.

Yep I can't see a single scenario where the SEC would allow Texas to bring the LHN along with them.

I think Texas knows LHN is gone but the move to the SEC outweighs losing LHN. It's also a win for ESPN as they can shut that network down.

ESPN getting to wash their hands of the LHN is 100% a win for them plus since Texas will be breaking contract it won't cost them anything either.

How does this affect our ability to keep CMC? He's a competitive dude who wants to win championships. If for some reason we drop out of a Power 5 conference (don't think we will) that definitely muddies the water.

In the league you think we're going to be in it sounds like we'd win the title every year. Basically Mount Union.

You've never been there obviously, it's a carbon copy of Ames in everything from athletics, to being an AG school, to the school size, town size, fanbase.....
How close is the nearest major airport that teams currently use to fly in and out of to get to KSU, we know that teams flying into Des Moines and then bus the 30 to 40 minutes up to Ames, what is the situation for Manhattan?

Anyone else hoping to hear something from Pollard in the near future. He’s usually very transparent and out in front, so I kind of expect him to address it in some way soon.

The fact that we haven't heard boo from anybody on this really goes to show you how surprising this has been for literally everybody.

Just heard through the rumor grapevine some pretty crazy stuff. Guy I know in ATL who knows some boosters close to UGA AD:

1. Word around UGA boosters is that Texas could make the move to SEC in as soon as 2 weeks
2. OU and OSU are a package deal to the SEC. OU wouldn’t leave without them.
3. If all 3 were to join, you could see Vandy and if needed, Missouri kicked out.
4. Auburn isn’t very well liked but it’s unlikely they would be kicked out.

Like most others, I think this is about as likely to happen as me winning the lottery. How would some GA boosters even find out this information.. I wouldn't think even the GA AD would know details this specific at this point.

Pac12 not a good option for "student" athletes. The additional travel time would have to be a major issue for anyone serious about getting an education.
