Pac 12 only exists if it's a huge block of teams . They aren't going to add 1-2.
The problem with that is travel and associated expenses. It would be better than independent but less than ideal.

Satellite internet is not what it used to be. The new stuff is ethernet because of their very low altitude and tight net. Hence only the latency inherent in the ethernet architecture already.
I do believe the escalation of ALL other ground networks to improve just to remain relevant. Also, don't forget 5G which in itself is much improved speeds.
That aside ANY/ALL media contracts must weigh the internet portion significantly more than cable or old satellite when being negotiated.
As mentioned in an earlier post I envision the Amazon12, the Google-12, but God forbid please NOT the Twitter-12.
I’m reading that the fact we’ve had zero success getting a tv contract is the reason this **** is happening. I wouldn’t put it past the SEC to try to make money off of NIL. Maybe they have a plan in place to pay players, and start making money off them while completely shedding the NCAA. I would assume that would be legal now. No different than working for ISU dining. This is all happening so fast and it’s crazy that a plan like that can already be in place but it’s the Wild West out there now.

58 pages and the only thing I know for certain is some of you have undiagnosed anxiety disorders. Everyone needs to remain calm, it will sort itself out and a decade from now we'll be in the Big 10 West.
I will say that there was a lot of well meaning naivety on this board in regard to what "fair market value" means. Somehow thinking that would protect things from ballooning out of control was comically naive.
"Fair market value" means anything anybody can get. If someone is willing to pay it, that's market value. There's no amount or type of payment that isn't fair. Somebody was willing to pay it, there is no shortage of competition, so that's a marketplace.
I see absolutely no reason future court rulings will not confirm that a conference or athletic department can somehow directly or almost directly pay players because the players are the product on the field. Their name is out there on the field, their name and abilities are what people are paying for.
I'm not even arguing it was the wrong court ruling (and I have epic problems with some SC rulings of the past 15 years I'd describe as utter nonsense). It's just reality.

At this point, JP and other B12 ADs need to reach out to PAC12, B10, and ACC to petition the NCAA to quit screwing around and adopt a 16 team playoff and forget about the bowls.

True but from an athletic department budget standpoint the Big 10 would make more sense for ISU than the PAC 12. At least in the Big 10 there are several one hop destinations. In the Pac 12 every team has to be flown to the West coast for every away game. That would eat a lot of the budget. I doubt the Big 10 wants to expand though and I also am surprised the SEC wants Texas and OU. I'm sure aTm will fight against that and might be willing to move back to the Big 12. If the Big 12 can then add a school like BYU would put them at 10 schools again.

I think some people confuse market value and fair market value. Fair market value requires some sort of support for it.
The thing is college football seems pretty dedicated to making sure Ohio State gets the rules changed year by year to benefit them.
So far the only consistent rule of the playoff committee is to change the criteria annually, monthly, or weekly to be in Ohio State's best interest.
There was a year that only playing 12 games disqualified a team from the playoff. Then there was also a year 6 games was enough to be in a playoff (when most teams had 10-12 games). The common denominator of that complete ridiculous lunacy? Both rule changes helped Ohio State.
An outcry that a team must have at least 13 games instantly and effortless changed to "6 games is more than enough to know a team is great". That tells you how crooked and twisted this entire thing is.

ESPN is the partner for the Longhorn network, ESPN has also bought the rights to broadcast the SEC starting in 2024 or so. They must be planning on rolling the LHN into those rights and guaranteeing UT that they will make more than the 15 million they were getting from the LHN under the new SEC deal.
I have a better chance of being the next Pope than A&M moving back to the Big 12.
