Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

there is no link between OU and OSU anymore. this isn't 1996 and state legislators control none of it. the proof you need is in OSU's response to this

Their statement pretty much said “We are going to look out for our own interests”. That doesn’t have any impact on whether or not OU brought up OSU in SEC discussions.

The source said Auburn being booted is unlikely if ever. But that Vandy would be first on the chopping block if it came down to fitting OSU and OU into the SEC.

I think OSU’s statement was PR and there’s no mention of them being tied at the hip. It’s hard to know what to make of their statement other than “Rah Rah protect our university”.

I will give you $50 if Okie State goes to the SEC and they kick soneone out.

It's 55 pages now. This still feels just like the conjecture based frenzy around the missile crisis of 2011. This is actually less likely to occur this time than then, factually.

Has anyone else suggested the possibility that this is another ploy by the big swinging dicks in the Big 12 to leverage the scary unknowns of conference realignment into getting the tv networks to come to the table with a comparable deal other conferences are getting?

Best case scenario is they don't get the votes to be added so this doesn't happen again.

That would save the conference in the short term, but any outcome that’s not a ploy for a better media deal will poison the conference beyond repair.

Regardless of how this turns out, ISU needs to have a contingency ready to go.

Hmmm. Nobody has weighed in on what the Federal Government will do. Separating itself from the pack, the SEC should be, by all measures, a target for increased taxation. Anyone with expert knowledge in that area?

The reactions from around the college sports world indicate otherwise.

Trust me I think it’s wild too. But if these rumors turn out to be factually true, it means Vandy’s footing along with Mizzou’s is not nearly as safe as they think.

Haven't you been watching the 1,000s of satellites going into space? Or that cable is dying? Or that internet packaging is now the primary seller (sign of the trend)? Quality internet for everyone else is, at most, 1 year away. Trust me. ESPN is at the forefront of understanding the paradigm shift. But, are (and will continue to be more so) financially strapped. If Disney doesn't keep up it's creative products, it will fall on financial times. Amusement park revenues dramatically hurt. ESPN bleeding due to dropped cable. This is a more delicate ship than most understand.
Quality internet is longer than 1 year away. The metro should have everyone covered in the next year or so with Metronet MiFiber and Google Fiber but the vast majority of rural America is not going to just magically get quality internet access. Streaming is the future but it is just going to be crappier bundles as we are already seeing.

I hope you are right.

Just heard through the rumor grapevine some pretty crazy stuff. Guy I know in ATL who knows some boosters close to UGA AD:

1. Word around UGA boosters is that Texas could make the move to SEC in as soon as 2 weeks
2. OU and OSU are a package deal to the SEC. OU wouldn’t leave without them.
3. If all 3 were to join, you could see Vandy and if needed, Missouri kicked out.
4. Auburn isn’t very well liked but it’s unlikely they would be kicked out.

LOL no friggin way the SEC kicks anyone out. The whole OSU/OU package deal is no longer on the table from what I've read.

Best case scenarios:

1: Big 12 expands (quickly)
2: NCAA blows up and we make the cut in a new super league with more regional/driveable matchups
3: Admittance into the B1G

Worst case:

UT and OU leave with no mega stars to fill their void. We become a more powerful AAC and revenue falls off the cliff
