Hunter Deyo commits

Hunter Deyo and his family had a gut check on the Hoks. Sounds like a great family that can spot snake oil salesmen a mile away. When something doesnt feel right, it isn't.

I'm looking forward to Hunter disrupting and dismantling the Hoks for 4 years and our other opponents too. Kid looks like the real deal. Welcome aboard HD!

Gotta admit, there wasn't a strong hint on the forums that Deyo was leaning our way. Commit was a real surprise. Wondering if the premium content discussions knew earlier what he was going to do? I assume so, but how long before his announcement? Just curious.

I never saw anything suggesting Deyo was seriously considering ISU. Yes, he took an official visit. However, all indications was he was going Hok or KSU. I really think this caught almost everyone by complete surprise. That’s what makes it so sweet. Nobody was sweeting it out on whether he would commit to ISU, except the coaches.

@cyclone4L was opining that he believed it was very close-neck and neck. That was the most optimistic I saw anywhere.

A lot of talk about Deyo in the "In-State football recruiting" thread. This may have been missed by many, as they opt out of that forum.

Now, going on rumors from that thread...

Yes, he was a shoo-in to Iowa. Some even said a silent commit during his visit. He then came back home and people within his circle told him they didn't feel right about the Iowa/Racism "thing." So he backed out of the silent commit and switched to ISU within a couple weeks.

He loves Iowa State's staff. The only thing holding him back was our defensive scheme. He would rather be a DT in a 4-3-4 but we run a 3-3-5.

Edit: spelling police
I think he’s a rare guy that can be effective inside in a 4 man front and as a DE in a 3 man front. Maybe he will get big enough to play inside in a 3 man front, but those guys are usually absolute bowling balls in the NFL.

This kid has so much versatility.

This one came as a huge shock to me. There wasn't much talk about this one, at least not on CF. Was he almost a shoe-in to go to Iowa and then he just ended up picking the good guys instead? This is our highest ranked lineman ever, whether it be offensively or defensively. That's pretty awesome that he's even higher rated than Jake Campos, who was an absolute stud for us. Deyo is going to be a huge key part in keeping that defensively line strong after McDonald and the other guy's leave. Extremely happy about this one.

Now we just need to land Gaines and this will be an awesome class! I think Becht is massively underrated and a possible four star talent.
All three of the receivers we’re after are studs. Gaines is the most polished, but I think Essex might be more talented. Quaron Adams would give us a dimension we’ve never had with his game-changing speed.

I'm certainly not doubting your assessment of 'stud' receivers. But a couple of them are 3-star rated, correct? I'm just totally curious what the heck a 5-star rated receiver would be called then. Elite stud? Stud of all studs? If a 3-star can be called a 'stud', then what incredible characteristics must seperate a 3-star from a 5-star?? Serious question.

Some Iowa fans on here referred to them as monster studs

Essex having 12 P5 offers is very intriguing. Adams has speed that Oregon wants, which means we want. Both are really good prospects with lots of big time offers.
