Old Mediocre Has-Been Desperate To Appear Relevant; aka JBo To Return

If Frank Gore plays this fall it will be during his age 38 season, which is ancient by NFL standards for any position but especially for a running back. OJ at 50? Pretty hilarious we “for got” OJ played after the trial, eh?

Gore is not even on a roster right now, and he’s played each of the last three years on league-minimum one-year deals for some rather desperate teams. I bet somebody still picks him up once more, but his yards per attempt last year was pretty bad. He’s close to the end of the line or might just be forced into retirement sometime this summer.

Heck a career, though. He came into the league the same year as did Alex Smith in San Francisco.
Gore has to be one of the few NFL players of all time to have a child playing college football at the same time. It wouldn't shock me at all if some team picks him up after an injury, even if picking up almost any fresh out of college running back would have a similar floor and infinitely higher ceiling. Nothing against Frank Gore, though. He's made quite a run at a position where most guys are out of the league within 3 years.

Frank Gore has been a great back for sure. Whats more impressive to me is his activism on climate change. Fun fact, he was vice president under Bill Clinton.

Twins and Jordan are both good at trolling. The problem is that they’re now trolling the same fan base. JBo coming back is the biggest troll of all time. I honestly haven’t seen a fan base as upset about a player returning in my entire life lol.

This board with Bolton wanting to come back was worse than this

Considering he had 3 knee reconstructions before he was even a pro its even more impressive.

Very subdued.

This board was crazy when Prohm came back for his final season. No one wanted him. He had no fan support at all. Kinda sad coming from the most supportive fanbase out there.
Many of us were skeptical at what would transpire - but were excited for Foster, the new recruits & the transfers (Hinson, JCL, Johnson, and Harris). Many of us were willing to give CSP a chance to "change our minds" as to his coaching abilities. Turns out that the new recruits did not improve (save Walker to an extent), Hinson did not play, the team did not gel, CSP did NOT improve, & Foster's season-ending injury was a big loss! As we lost more and more games - CF was in collective agreement that he should be gone. The difference is that CSP is a nice guy and most of us would have liked to see a nice guy succeed. I consider Steve a Cyclone - even if I hate what happened at the end. Jorbo? Don't know him personally, but his antics and public persona make me sooooo glad he was NOT a Cyclone!!

Yah, that was not at all what this board was. There were certainly some that were all the way out on Prohm, but I think the most general sense was "give him one more year to see if he can improve." I think the tide didn't all the way turn until mid-December or so, about the time we lost to K State.

I'm guessing JorBo had his eye on Mark Emmert's role with NCAA. I mean it sounded liek he owned Emmert in their recent Zoom call. Since Emmert just got his contract extended JorBo figured he'd come back for another year of hoops.

I think the consensus was he could get one more year because of the pandemic, but we had to see improvement.

Once it became clear the conference season was going to be a debacle, the tide turned.

Hello. I am here to eat crow. When Jordan came out and said he would come back if Iowa Legislature passed NIL. I saw it as a call to arms for fans around the state to pick up the phone and call their legislators. I saw him fighting for NIL during the NCAA Tourney as a cause bigger than himself.

I'm here today to say I was wrong. I hope Jordan continues to turn up the heat on NIL and is a pain in the ass for the NCAA this next season. However, this is the most selfish, self-centered, cry for attention I've seen outside of the Cave. Most of my Hawk friends are even completely confused and almost ashamed to talk about it.

Hopefully Otz will have the men's basketball team turned around in time to thank Jordan for all the memz.

From what I recall the absolute drubbing by Iowa followed by losing at home to K-State sealed the deal with even the most ardent supporters of Prohm.

I somewhat expected the big loss to Iowa. Even then we showed flashes in the first half

K State had lost to a D2 so the thought was “hey, at least we should be able to beat these guys”

Nope

do you appreciate Jake Paul for the same?
And I ask this honestly, because I just this morning reading this thread had a thought about if I would appreciate a personality like JBo if he were on my team, or if I would get fed up with him and he'd annoy me.
I came to the conclusion I'd probably cheer for him and appreciate what he can do on the floor, but roll my eyes or talk **** to my friends about how much he annoys me any time I see him trolling on twitter.
My observation is his troll skills are better than his basketball skills. As a consequence his trolling is cringe.
