The Fran fade

Do ISU fans see this as much of an upgrade over JCL, or even an upgrade at all?
For me it all depends on which Gabe were getting. If we’re getting the one from last year, then I’d say it’s a downgrade. If it’s his sophomore or freshman year numbers, definitely an upgrade. JCL was a darn good shooter and did work hard but he wasn’t a good defender and didn’t really make great decisions.

Was their schtick?

He sets Iowa State's expectations absurdly high...

I really think if it is a normal game, ISU wins by double digits.

ISU -34
OK - 20

And sets Iowa's expectations laughably low...

Iowa was a good team the year before and didn't get a chance in the tournament. This year they started off in the preseason top 5, being propped up by the best player in college bball. They never really did much to improve from that or really drop from that. If they would have started at #15, they probably would have ended at #15.

They met my season expectations except for the round of 32 exit. I was thinking top half Big 10 finish, win a game or two in the BTT and then Sweet 16.

Iowa has some holes to fill, less than ISU, but still some. I wouldn't be pumping sunshine if Gabe Kalscheur was filling one of those holes.

Interesting take. Imagine the difference a guy like him who plays great defense could have made against a team like, oh I don't know, OREGON?

You should know better than to expect a Sweet 16 when "32 is as far as I can go" Fran is involved.
