The Fran fade

The segment “week in review” on ESPN, totally roasted Fran big time on never making it to the 2nd weekend of the NCAA or never won the B1G tournament. Nicole Briscoe goes, “You’re not cool with failing up? Maybe he is just needs to feel more loved and confident.”

They made crap out of not only his first contract, but also his second one. They also said, “I guess the people in Iowa City are OK with this.”

Thank you ESPN for letting the whole nation know this and making Barta look like a fool. Keep those contracts coming!

Joes got some serious skills but I'm not sure it all translates to the NBA. Similar to Garza in that regard, but I do think Joe has a better shot. End of the day, he's a shorter version of Jared Uthoff. I'd be willing to bet he comes back for his senior year and help lead Iowa to the NIT.
And Iowa's NIT run will end with a loss where they are repeatedly dunked on.

I just don’t understand the thought process for extending someone like Fran. It’s not like you’re in danger of losing him to another program. What do you gain from locking in to a long term agreement there?

Exactly! Who was going to come and take Fran away from Iowa? Nobody. He might know some x's and o's, but he brings WAY too much extra baggage. Why extend someone that nobody else even wants?

So that he can confidently recruit 2 star gingers. The rest of his "recruits" consisit of his progeny and of Hawkeye shill children who grow up thinking every day is "a great day to be a Hawkeye." But those 2 star ginges require some convincing.

wow. didn't know he had a younger brother too
Yes, little bro is pretty highly ranked in his class too. Looks to be a very similar player. I think PS will be largely a catch and shoot guy mostly. He will be good in that role.

Devries was just on a totally different level athletically, ball handling and finishing. He drew the assignment defending Lipsey and did a good job. Kid is going to tear up the valley.

Catch and shoot.....you mean they found bobo 2.0? Is he terrible in defense like him also?

I don’t know how any of that had to do with their ability on the court. I understand the overcoming trauma and hardships but it doesn’t mean Joe W can’t make a roster in the NBA.
It's been extensively written about and acknowledged since day one how well built and conditioned Matt Thomas was. His personal workout and preparation routine is legendary and was constantly commented on in the media by Naz, Georges, Fred, TJ and written about in articles extensively. Joe W looks like he's allergic to weights, plays D with resistance band between his ankles, and always looks to be sucking air pretty bad. He can jump a little bit I'll give u that, but he plays in a phone booth.

So you think Wieskamp has no chance of making a roster when Matt Thomas is on one?
I think we've established Thomas and Wisekamp is not a good player comp. A better one would be Wisekamp to Clyburn. Will Clyburn was a slender slasher and big time shot maker from the wing who could rebound and finished above the rim when he got space. Both streaky, at times the best player on the court and other times an underwhelming role player. Clyburn never really got a serious look in the NBA.
