The Fran fade

No matter how hard you try, you can’t make people care about teams from 30-40 years ago lol.

Reminiscing about teams is no big deal imo.

The issue is when fans are still mentally/emotionally in the 1980s and somehow think that puts the current era in the same light because the team looked good in December.

Not saying you can or can't. Just saying that he was comparing this year's Iowa's team to other historical teams. While Iowa doesn't have the best bball program, their history is still a lot better than ISU's.
Cmon man you sound like a Nebraska fan. “But ma history” lol And the only reason I or anyone else compare this Iowa team to others, is because Iowa fans and some national media members shoved the “best Iowa team ever” narrative down everyone’s throat.

This Iowa team was good not great.

I didn't bring up their history. Someone else did and made fun of it. I just merely pointed out that Iowa has a much better history than ISU.

I said at the beginning of the year that I thought Iowa would be a solid top 20 team. I never bought into the whole top 5 thing or Big Ten Contenders. They actually exceeded my expectations this year except for the Oregon game.

If you're looking for excuses, you'll love this article.
-Terrible draw
-Injuries
-Oregon was fresher
-The Ducks had more time to scout Iowa

I half expected the author to talk about how Iowa actually overachieved, considering they're still digging out of the Todd Lickliter hole.

Where was "it was their time of the month" excuse at? Since someone on HR called out CMac for needing a episiotomy figured the excuse was fitting enough.

Most people in the know in Hawkeye country think there’s no chance of JW coming back next year.

I don't think he's on most draft boards, is he transferring or just wants to start pro ball. I'm sure he can make a lot of money somewhere but he's not close to that first round guaranteed contract.

What's your point? The Visigoths were once a powerful force in Europe for hundreds of years. Doesn't mean much today.

Fun fact: much like Hawks, the Visigoths also lost to a 7 seed. A plucky squad of Berbers who won the Caliphate tournament and were totally underseeded.

I don’t believe the post you’re referring to actually made fun of Iowa’s history at all, rather it pointed out that there were 19 better basketball seasons than this current season that has been overhyped by nearly every single Hawkeye fan / media member. (Not counting you)

As an aside. Did anyone notice that games were called "second round" on the CBS graphics Sunday and Monday? I was 100% sure Hawk fans told us that the play in games could as being part of the tournament. If the play in games counted in the round count?

I'd imagine they'll get to a place where they claim the season doesn't even count now.

I'd also imagine they'll claim ISU's Fiesta Bowl win wasn't as 'January Bowl' as theirs have been since it wasn't on NYD.
