Was the officiating really that bad?

we should have played with Lucca, Petersen, Brackins. left everyone else on the bench. officials were fine. he got outhustled, outrebounded, outscored. when you are out of position when they drive to the hoop fouls happen. we chucked up 3's to no end. i don't get it. haluska, eikmeier were terrible, terrible, terrible.

Zactly...and just enough to ensure they stayed in the game. Was Hartzell at UNI with Mac got hired away?

Hartzell knew that wasn't over and back and you didnt ... imagine how much other stuff he knows because he's a certified official and you're not.

I said I don't have the rule book mesmorized. But i do know fouls not getting called correctly.

And in my defense both announcers were adamant it was over and back.

We also got away with a travel right near the end of the game...

Blaming the refs for the loss is like blaming forks and knifes for Rosanne Arnold being fat. We lost it, not the refs.

You can find a lot of good out of the loss. We played 30-35 solid minutes. We usually stayed up by 10. Once we hit that 5 minute mark, we know, the players know, that they will start to give up the lead. It's a learning and confidence type deal. Hopefully it gets better over time.

26-6. My head hurts from all the yelling at the official and I did very little of it.

For most of the game they were fine, but it seemed around with 10 minutes left in the game, they started calling ticky tack fouls on us, while brackin and VB were getting worked down low. I still can't believe this.

The officiating was not the reason we lost...the team that wanted it more won tonight.

They never got the ball down low, how were they getting worked? The one time Brackins had a contested shot he got the call...

Fouls were 19 (ISU) to 12 (Drake)

Subtract the 2 intentionally given fouls and that's a 5 foul difference for the game. Pretty minimal given that Drake drove to the hoop and we didn't. we're a little slow footed at guard - Drakes not.

I hate it when people assume, after someone posts a thread critical of officiating after a loss, the officiating is the ONLY reason for the loss and then make posts saying that officiating had absolutely no impact on the game. Every rational person should understand that officiating, whether good or bad, ALWAYS influences the game. But, every rational person also understands that officiating, no matter how poor, will never be the sole reason for one team losing.

If someone argues the officiating was not consistent with what the rules of the book say or what precedences take place on the court - come up with a detailed criticism of that argument. Stop making the assumption that just because someone calls the officiating poor they believe that officiating is the only factor of why a team lost.

One can be critical and rational at the same time.

True...but as a fan I have right to hate the refs after a loss.
