The Fran fade

I disagree. I don’t think he had any shot of getting drafted last year. Now I’d be pretty confident saying he will, whether that’s mid-late second round. He also never had the chance to be the guy during march madness which is a dream for many.
There was a small shot of him getting drafted but he wanted to have a guarantee that he wouldn't have to go to the G league and they couldn't give him that. That's just what I heard. I do agree with you though that he wanted to play in March Madness. I think if the year ends in a normal way he would've left.

Thanks for confirming. I did a quick wikipedia tally and didn't see more than one B1G win in a season. Just wanted to make sure I didn't miss a season. Since @Expert was so sure.

Iowa has made it to Friday of the conference tournament with Fran as coach in 2012, 2013 and 2019. If Iowa secures a double bye this year that gets them to Friday. You did not ask if he has ever won more than one game in the conference tournament.

Two of those three years you listed didn't have Maryland or Rutgers in the conference and the tourney started on Thursday. It starts on Wednesday now.
It's not all apples to apples.

Want to answer the full question
I mean Iowa State just won the Regular Season Conference Championship and a NY6 bowl. Comparing that to a coach who has never accomplished anything and a program who hasn't been to the Sweet 16 this century is dumb

I can see that side of it. He phrased the question as it being the farthest Iowa has ever advanced though. I was looking at it as Iowa has made the quarterfinals 3 times under Fran which is where earning the double bye would get them.

Oh my gosh. I'm so sorry. Thank you for your assistance.

So to simplify what you said, TCU hasn’t been very good lately and Iowa State has been. Historically it’s TCU>ISU and it’s not close. Same thing applies with Iowa and Indiana. Thanks ;)

How about we all just wait and see what happens next week and during the NCAA tournament. If Iowa lays eggs in both tournaments, the conversation on every thing we've been talking about changes.

I can guarantee you that if Iowa loses in the 1st or 2nd round, the tone around here from Iowa fans will drastically change.

TCU has been good lately and yes they've historically been way better than Iowa State

Do you think that will be the difference maker in a professional career? I personally think its defensive footwork.

But then again, weren't you someone that couldn't just honestly say if Frank or Fran was more responsible for his growth?

I don't think he will make it in the pros. I give Luka most of the credit. He has a tireless work ethic. He deserves most of the praise.
