Actually that is NOT the perception. At one time, maybe. I would think the SEC is getting the "no defense" perception now. OR is it maybe that the offenses are just that good?

They also have the most fans, the most money, the biggest population areas and a lot of media behind them. It's a fine conference. On par with the B12 most years...better some, worse some. I think that in the past 20 years, there's been a lot of dead weight at the bottom that probably inflates records of the top teams more than what happens in some other conferences.

I just agree that most fans around the country would say they are overrated because B10 fans have been so outspoken about how good they are and you have guys like Herbstreit and Howard backing that up.

Personally I think the B1G was better until they watered it down with Rutgers, Maryland and Nebby. They should have pushed hard for Notre Dame and had a 12 team conference.

+2015 Boomers (aka Dissed then Disposed) -- played 12 games against FBS teams with a combined W/L record -- 78-66. Removing Tenn 8-4 record (OU's best record non-con game) and the 11 teams were a combined 70-62. Or put another way, a winning percentage TEN POINTS HIGHER than the ToE "meatgrinder".

+2016 Boomers (aka Stoops Farewell Tour) -- Combined 12 game schedule W/L -- 78-66

+2017 Boomers (aka Flag Planters) -- Combined 12 game schedule W/L -- 69-75* (*69-63 if 0-12 UTEP non-con removed)

+2018 Boomers (aka Baseball's for Nerds) -- Combined 12 game schedule W/L -- 74-69

+2019 Boomers (aka Wagon Tippers) -- Combined 12 game schedule W/L -- 74-71

One season (2017) in the five you mentioned did OU play a combined losing record and the teams they played STILL WON 3* MORE GAMES than the "Magical 2015 ToE Hoks" "meatgrinder" schedule.


*Arguably 12 if I steal a page from your book do some mental summersaults along with some selective data removal - removing UTEP from 2017 OU schedule and Ill.St. from 2015 ToE schedule

LOL man. Lets just talk about conference schedule here, that is what we are talking about right. ISU fans always claiming how super tough it is to win the Big12, blah, blah, blah.

OU from '16-'19 played 8 teams that were ranked in the final AP top 25 poll in regular season conference play. In '16 their conference opponents record was 57-56. In '17 their conference opponents record was 59-57. In '18 their conference opponents record was 60-54. In '19 their conference opponents record was 59-55. Over 4 years of conference play OU faced teams that were 235-222 (51%).

Yeah, looks like a real gauntlet for OU to get through the Big12 schedule. So over 4 years OU averaged playing 2 teams a year that finished in the AP top 25, and their conference opponents had a 51% winning % overall.

Cool story. Now do ToE - I'll give you a head start since I have the numbers for '15 still available. 45-51 was the combined record of the conference opponents they played that season.
