ESPNU?

Yeah... Seriously.... The best tickets for 2 I could find were Sect 222 row 13 and it came out to $43.00. Tickets might be cheap, but it is the rest of it that goes with it.

Norwalk takes me 45 minutes to drive up... 45 minutes back at 10pm and then waking up at 5 am to get ready for work.

I would love to go... Don't get me wrong. But unless I can eat at your place for FREE or get FREE gas or FREE drinks at the game.. Can't really justify it.

Eat at home, gas is $1.50ish, and they have water fountains. Come to the game!

I would give my money to ISU if I had some to spend. I have football season tickets but can't justify basketball since I wouldn't make every game.

So lets see, I drive up to the game... $10 Gas (cheap now)
Buy two tickets for me and wife ... $41.05 Sect 222 row 13
Supper if we did fast food.. $13.00
Drinks at game or whatever.... $10.00

Total $74.05

Mediacom $5.00 2 state games on

Hmmmm... as much as I love giving ISU money. This time of the year doesn't work. Christmas is coming and we are a broke newlywed couple...

Makes sense

I forgot to add in that post....

I can drink beer at home and not worry about driving..

I can have whatever I want to eat...

And cstrunk... Beer > water.... nough said.

Sorry if this has been posted before, been gone recently....but will the Connections channel pick up the games tonight? IA/UNI and ISU/Drake?

If I recall...ESPNU is not even on the expanded basic package for mediacom...it's in the pay for more "sports pack". Not sure on D-TV

Will a nice chunk of Iowa miss out on their own in-state games?

Just pay $5 to get the sports package from mediacom. It's only $5!!!

Mediacom is ripping me off. We got the sports pak but it refuses to work so no ISU game for me.

That is scary.... when did you get it??
Had it since the Baylor game, has only worked half of the time. It comes up with this message that says "Channel should be available shortly" but it never comes on. Been doing this for the past 4 weeks.

Ok, look. The sports pack is for people who want to watch sports.

If you watch sports, and you want to watch more sports, you ought to pick up the sports pack.

That's the whole point of it. If they put every game that was on the sports pack on your local, basic programming, there would be little incentive for anyone to ever buy the sports pack.

Now I know most of you think you're entitled to see every single ISU game that will ever be played picked up only via bunny ears into your 1976 RCA color television set. These days, the revenue from networks like ESPNU is important to the ISU athletic department. ESPNU makes money when you subscribe to it, which it can then use to pay for rights to these games.

It's available to everyone that has satellite/cable. Fork over the 5 bucks and pay for it. It's a lot cheaper than going to the game, still.

Anyone know what kind of money ISU makes from ESPNU games and what kind of ratings do niche channels like this get?

just curious

Are you running the cable from the wall into anything else before running it to the cable box? I had a similar problem with Mediacom digital cable and found out it was because I was running my cable through my VCR and then to the cable box. I hadn't realized that you couldn't do that. So that would be one thing I would check.

Just unplug your cable box for about 10 minutes. I did this recently when the OnDemand feature wasn't working. Worked like a charm after that.

I dealt with that crap for 10 years....just reading your problems with Mediacom makes my blood pressure skyrocket!!!

We can put a man on the moon, but Mediacom can't run a simple cable company!!! I've never in my life dealt with such ineptness like I did with Mediacom. Thank you DirectTv!!!!! You've filled my families life with so much happiness!!!!

FIXED IT!!!! Plugged it directly into the wall instead of the splitter that was used for both cable and internet. Woot!
