Iowa Football Recruiting

Cannot give you a good answer. Really bad look for the program to say the least. My point here is that the program seems to be headed in the right direction.
With this new direction will Kirk still let known homophobic coaches be on his staff? I mean, we know he wouldn't be pressured by his homophobic boss to change that stance.

Dude, what is your problem? I came on here and asked questions because I wanted to see opinions from Clone fans and you're being a jackass for no reason.

@Gitwitit said yesterday it was well known Doyle made homophobic comments.
He remained on staff.
The AD has been found guilty in court room of the same demeanor.

So, how am I being the jackass?

You're going after me for no reason. All I did was hear you guys out about the questions I asked and I said I think Iowa is taking a step in the right direction and you could not just leave conversation there. Had to fire back with more. Stop trying to egg the conversation on.

Wow!! This escalated quickly. 12 posts in on a so called "new member" and already dropping a-bombs. This isn't going to end well.

I am a long time viewer of this forum. Although I do not exactly like ISU, I like to stay in the loop w/ both in-state schools. Call me ignorant if you want, but what exactly makes Kirk Ferentz a racist? Are you basing it on the lawsuit from the group of Wadley, Martin-Manley, and Jonathan Parker? If so, that is ridiculous IMO. Wadley scammed hundreds of people out of their merch in which they paid for, Martin-Manley did the same exact thing, and Parker claimed that Iowa was racist because they "made" him eat medium-rare steak. It is pretty clear that this lawsuit is an attempt to make a quick buck.

If your basis is on the investigation that showed some racially insensitive behavior, I guess I can understand that. But, the vast majority of players said that Kirk was/is not the problem. Those issues that were found in the investigation that he did not clear up seemed to deal more with Kirk not caring to get rid of his no hoodie/jewelry rule in the football building. Was he in the wrong? Yes. But does that actually make him racist? C'mon.

Jesus, you're serious aren't you?!?!

Players have reported that the atmosphere in the building is much better. Like someone previously said Kirk was under a microscope this year. Recruiting definitely took a hit in the late summer-Feb. We will see if it takes a toll in the future then we can really come to a conclusion. That was just my opinion, obviously no fact in it.

@CyTwins, so which POS retread is this?

Do people "under a microscope" call racists and homophobes a good friend?
And you think Gary Barta, of all people, would have installed this "microscope?"

Well I mean journalists, boosters, and many others were watching the program closely. I am just saying that what matters the most is what happens in a few years when this situation is sort of put in the past. I hope that these changes stay in effect and the program continues to take positive steps, but if not Kirk being fired is an absolute necessity.

No, no, I am saying evidence that Kirk knew exactly what Doyle was doing. The Doyle firing was definitely warranted. All I am saying is that I think the program is headed in the right direction and I am in full support of it. If these issues arise again, Kirk needs to be fired on the spot, it is as simple as that.
You seem like a smart, reasonable and nice Hawkeye fan (being honest with you). With that being said, do you honestly think that Ferentz, a coach of 20 years who has been propped up as having a tight ship and a tight culture, didn't know what was going on within his strength program? And even if there was a world where Kirk didn't know ANYTHING was happening along these lines, do you think it's appropriate that Kirk was not aware that something of this magnitude was happening within his strength program?

Either way Kirk is at fault, however was not punished whatsoever. His son, who was mentioned numerous times and was on file with Husch-Blackwell was not punished. Wallace, the coach who made fun of a kid for having a learning disability and was on file with Husch-Blackwell was not punished. Doyle was the sacrificial lamb. Once Iowa "got rid" of him, they knew they weren't going to do anything else in regards to punishment, no matter what the report said. If you actually read the report, it shows that there were issues within this program that were at every single level. And no, the guys like Wadley were not even investigated within this report.
