The Fran fade

Garza and Kaminsky is a horrible comp because Kaminsky was more versatile and much more skilled outside of just being a scorer. That's it
Comps aren't clones. Nobody's a clone. You give a comp then say what each is better at. I disagree and think it's a fair comp but agree Kaminsky does some of things you've mentioned but i also think Garza does thinks better that I've mentioned. Put you down as overseas guy?

I’m a clone. What are you talking about?

There's no way most 3s are guarding him 1 on 1. Which 3 is guarding him that's not an elite defender? The elite 3s are not going to be slotted against luka garza either. His offensive game is built to play on any team. He can be a pick and pop guy or on the block guy.

Thats true he’s going to be playing against second units most of the time
I would agree lateral quickness will be his biggest weakness and he will likely be abused again and again on the pick and roll in the NBA. There's tons of NBA 5's and even 4's that meet that description though. Enes kanter and Kaminsky are closest comps that he could copy role wise. It limits your minutes but it's not a death sentence

Don’t get me wrong. I think he will surprise people in the NBA; he’s just a uniquely talented player.

It's a bad comp

Yes I think he's an overseas guy

I'm more of an NBA fan than college, I kind of think college basketball sucks outside of my ISU fandom (and Iowa fandom as a kid).

Luka is a player who would have been a top 5 pick in 90s or even early 2000s. Chris Mihm out of Texas was a top ten pick in early 00s and he sucked in every way compared to Garza as the same kind of player.

Times have changed. The biggest thing by far working against him is his foot speed on defense. Don't listen to any college fans on these forums, they don't know anything about defense in the NBA. NBA defense is on a different level and demands a different level of athlete. If you can't keep up on D you won't see heavy minutes unless you're already an all star on offense.

He will stick around for a while because his outside shooting has improved, but it'll be hard for him to be "the man" for a team or a starter with his foot speed.

For full disclosure, Monte is the only player from ISU among the 11 recent NBA players they've had who could be a starter at this point, he's among the best backup PGs in the league and has started around 30 games I think. BDJ was on track for it when he was killed and THT/Haliburton definitely have the potential for it. Could Garza have a similar career to what Georges has had so far? Sure. Georges has some of the same limitations, although he has worked his butt off to get leaner and faster on D. He's much more athletic now than he was at ISU and even with his "minivan" nickname he's way quicker up the floor than Garza.

This is where I'm at. I just don't see Garza as anything other than a guy who might hang around the NBA. He can't defend a ball screen for his life and NBA players will absolutely abuse his lack of foot speed. The NBA as you said is just so different now than it was 20 years ago. There just aren't many spots for a player like Garza any longer.

Yep, Kaminsky was more fluid up and down the court and had better balance. Garza is unique to himself. Have never seen anyone like him before. I hope he shocks the world and comes back next year.

It's cute that you think a slow guy with a hook move will play in the NBA.

Hilarious actually.

It's cute hilarious actually that you think he's just a slow guy with just a hook move. Even if you just watched the Iowa state game how was that your take away

That's really all I'm saying. I just think he will be a rotational piece in the NBA. He won't be a starter by any meand but i think he plays in the league for several years

It is a tough call. Million dollar shoe deals don't just grow on trees, and he's already turned it down once.
